There are quite a few Indian restaurants in the Portland area. I would say there are a half dozen in Beaverton, alone. There are also several Indian Markets in Beaverton.

Portland has a large Indian population, due to the high tech industry here.

Having said that, when we go for a group lunch, I am often the only non-Indian in the group. They mainly want to go to a non-Indian restaurant, because they eat Indian food every night, at home. I figure the guys who want to go to Indian restaurants are either single or have wives who are shitty cooks.

Having said that, we do go for Indian food every once in a while, and I am learning that the food differs from one region to the next and that many of the restaurants tend to favor one regional food over another - like cajun vs. texican.

In my experience, they are usually buffets. And I don't do buffets. Neither do most people I know.
