Feaster's advice makes one wonder if Harris' alleged immaturity and selfishness might have been from coddling in HS.

True. But you can also say Miles/Cameron know much more about Harris and his situation at LSU than his former high school coach several hours away from Baton Rouge.

What good would it do for BH to go juco now? Honest question. LSU is fully capable of running a good balanced offensive (2013) with the current staff and has just as much young talent as any other school in the country.

Most of you internet coaches do realize the difference between the 1st half of the season and the 2nd half right?
The first half is mostly the OOC schedule. Of course Harris looked better. His receivers were open by 3 yds and he didnt have to look past the 1st read. He is a more naturally gifted athlete than Jennings is, and a better passer....if he doesnt have to make multiple reads.
The second half of the season is SEC play. Where nobody is open by 3 yds and most of the time SEC D's take away a QBs first option. And this is where Jennings is better and why he started after Brandon shite the bed vs an SEC D.
Jennings is behind Harris in arm strength and accuracy. Running ability as well. Harris is behind Jennings in making reads at the line of scrimmage and knowing which way to go with the football. Les, Cam, Frank, Steve all see this....and to minimize the mistakes went with the QB who best gave them an opportunity to win. Simple as that.
Brandon Harris can pass Jennings whenever he wants. Just needs to put the time in.

They probably know more about his situation, but I imagine Feaster was basing his ideas on information that came directly from Harris.
I agree that if he can't win the QB battle this year it's probably in his best interest to go elsewhere and get some playing time.

Absolutely none. Work hard here, continue to improve and learn how to become a better QB and leader, and his future is extremely bright. Going to a JUCO would slow his progress. The only thing it would offer him is that he could play next year instead of sitting out but he'd still have to transfer and compete with established guys at any halfway decent school. The coach is being really short-sighted.

Harris month of Oct. was 20%.
The kid, Harris, fell apart for whatever the reason after his start.
You don't have to be a college football expert to see that something went on with Harris beginning with Aub. and carried forth for the rest of the season.
The kid is getting a good amount of playing time for a tr. freshman and is even given a start. After that, almost nothing. Something takes place in the Aub. game or soon after which leads the staff to abandon their plans for Harris.
Seems pretty plain to me, but what do I know.

I found the passage about Harris in Feldman's book, "QB."
The Elite 11 staff was curious to see how Brandon Harris performed. There were no doubts about his arm strength or athleticism, although the staff wanted to see more polish on his passing skills instead of being a "one-pitch pitcher," relying on his fastball.
"The big concern with him is about his mental makeup," said one of the coaches. "When we saw him in Dallas, he kept telling people how he'd never really been coached before. Like, he was using the same excuse, the same crutch, on people. He sounded rehearsed. You wonder if he's the guy who makes excuses when the chips are all on the table and things aren't going right. You wonder how he'd carry a locker room. Will kids see right through him?"

I suppose you have insider information?
Jennings played worse in the first half of N. Mexico State and got redemption.
For whatever reasons, whether it's that the staff sees something they like in AJ, or BH just isn't getting it, both LSU and Harris would be better off parting ways if he can't get playing time this season.

Feaster would know a lot about transferring. Just since the turn of the century he has been the head coach at: Many, Sabine ISD, Leesville, Minden and Parkway.
Posted on 1/28/15 at 1:49 pm to NorthTiger
In fairness, Feaster has been successful everywhere but Sabine ISD.
On the other hand, some posting here want to make him out to be a candidate for the HOF.
He's a good local coach, who, by BH's acknowledgment, knows little about coaching QBs.
Just like most HS coaches.
He should have left this issue alone and kept his mouth shut.

I disagree. If less than 50% passing, 3 td's and 2 int's as well as 120 yds passing a game is what we want to do, we have more serious problems than I thought.
He won games...and should have beaten Bama
Regardless, AJ is not the future at QB

I guess it depends on what winning games means. He was on the winning team.

I wouldn't put money on it.

A good coach but has little sense and doesn't work well with others, especially adults. It is what it is, ask any coaches about him and that pretty much sums him up.
Posted on 1/28/15 at 2:12 pm to SBC
Until recently I had not heard these issues regarding Harris and if true then having his former coach give poor and even more immature advice to Him is perpetuating a cycle. Juco route and then sign elsewhere is terrible advice unless a kid has grade issues or is dismissed from the squad. Harris now has a scarlet letter on his forehead due to private discussions made public. Sounds as if Feaster needed the attention.

If you are a QB on the same roster as Anthony Jennings, and he is starting ahead of you; forget finding another school, you might ought to find another sport.

So stupid... his other team he was high on was auburn. He wasn't starting over marshal, and he wouldn't start over Jeremy Johnson. He would be on the bench there, where at LSU, he started a game as a true freshman.
LOL. What's even funnier is that his top 3 was that of Ohio State, Auburn, and LSU. Barring injury, he wouldn't have started in 2 or even 3 years at those other schools. He went to LSU; one because he knew he'd have a major chance to play early, two, because of Cam Cameron, and three because of wanting to be an Louisiana legend (I'm paraphrasing, but he pretty much said this).
