I could never get into it on PC. It's just pointless to me. It's a never ending war with no endgame. You spend hours taking a base and then you lose it 10 minutes later.
I need some sort of gratification I guess.

It pisses me off that a of alpha squad member who signed up for ps4 beta day one and has been waiting for ps2onps4 since the ps4 launch(the original scheduled release for the game- still hasn't gotten a beta code.

I signed up for it damn near instantly, the first 15 minutes it was open, if that really matters at all. They screwed up the first batch of codes too.

Planetside2 is a very different kind of game.
It is generally not for lone wolves and takes some large scale coordination to "move the map"
Stout, I have a hard time understanding people that say it is just a repetitive never ending war. It is far less repetitive than any COD or BF type FPS where you just play the same maps over and over.
For me the gratification came from the teamwork and coordination of my outfit.
There are infinite possibilities in PS2. It is kind of a FPS sandbox.

I'm definitely looking forward to trying this.
Not to worried about the lack of endgame. Its no different than a game like Day-Z.

I think what he means is that there's no end game. Like, we need to get 100 kills or destroy all of the M-COM's. Get it, start over with a new match. I can see the appeal of the open world shooter, but if it just keeps going and going, I could also see it getting repetitive. Although, I've played shooters with a super high ticket count or DOD games where no team could manage to capture all the points where you didn't really join to see it to an end. Just play for a while until you had to go to work or something. So do you prefer the sprint or the marathon?

I guess in PS2 I always saw each base as a new match.
And then there are the times where you run in to massive open field battles en route to your target. The matches happen wherever the players want them to happen.

I guess it would be like a MP buffet. Have some of this here if you want. If not, move on a have a little of that.
I could never give PS2 a fair shake because I could never get it to load. I'm sure it was a problem with the install, but I lost interest after enough error messages.

It's very different IMO. The appeal of DayZ is survival by building up gear and your character. You spawn in with nothing into a harsh world and fight to survive. I have died in DayZ and gotten fairly upset because I lost some really good gear.
PS2 is just another shooter where it's no big deal if you die as you will just respawn with the same shite you had prior. Rinse and repeat.
If you want to compare it to something then compare it to Arma at least but again even in Arma you still have to build up your kit. It's a lot easier and not nearly as upsetting as dying in DayZ is.
