Downtown Atlanta Dining Suggestions

I loved y'all's restaurant suggestions for my last cheer trip to NOLA: Couchon, Couchon Butcher, Wood Pizza and Grand Isle were each perfect for what I needed. Heading to Atlanta soon for another cheer trip (yay), and would like to get some ideas for Downtown Atlanta dining. One restaurant will need to have entrees under $25 seat a group of 18 and have something on the menu that teenage girls will eat (pizza, salad, chicken tenders etc) while having good food and bar for the grown-ups...
Whatcha got???
By Downtown, I mean the area near the convention center...don't mind a short cab ride though - staying at the Omni...

Mercy, you might want to mo-betta describe what you mean by "downtown" Atlanta.

Teds Montana grill will be perfect for that group or Stats which is a sports bar owned by a Tulane grad

Max Lagers would be a good option, just not sure how easy it will be to fit 18. Stats as someone else mentioned is pretty average bar food but you can definitely get 18 in there for that price range. Varsity would be the easiest thing to do but I'd Google it and see if that type of dinner is what you want. You could always feed the girls cheap varsity food then go do your own thing. You can't walk there from the omni tho.
There isn't a ton of good options within walking distance of the omni but a mile away in west midtown has a ton of great stuff. Six feet under would be a really good spot to go based on what you wrote but with 18 people depending on the time and night you are going to have to wait at least an hour.

Please don't go to the Varsity. Stats and max lagers are good recs for regular American food.
If you're willing to take a short cab ride, the options are endless. Mary mac's tea room on ponce is a landmark Atlanta restaurant. No Mas cantina would be great for a large group with kids.
Look up places in midtown and west midtown. Lots of good options.

Vortex
Ya great idea. Parents can go in and eat and the kids can stand on the sidewalk.

Not sure I'd want to combine the Varsity with cheering that night or the next day but could make for some interesting stories.
Isn't the Vortex 18 and over at all times?
Wish I had some suggestions but I don't get downtown hardly ever. In and out for a game maybe once per year.

I can agree with this; it's the whole "please don't go..." that is silly.

Actually no because they recently switched to Over 21. That's why it was not a good suggestion.

The Vortex makes a great burger. But the service isnt worth it. I dont wanna be treated differently just because I dont have tats all over my body and etc. Its like because I dress nice and try to carry myself well I am an outsider.

Well yes, this would be a great restaurant if he was able to leave the 18 cheerleaders at the hotel

Seriously, call South City Kitchen and make reservation for 18. The prices can be reasonable if everyone in your party is not ordering the filet. It's about as good as it gets in that price range in Atlanta.
Tennessee Williams once said, "America only as three cities: New York, San Francisco and New Orleans. Everywhere else is Cleveland."
Well unfortunately Atlanta falls in that Cleveland category especially in terms of food. If you want quality food in Atlanta it's not going to be cheap. South City Kitchen actually breaks out of that mold and offers a very good quality to price ratio. Not as high as most restaurants in New Orleans offer but pretty damn good for Atlanta.

Yeah. I missed the 25 plus group part.
JCT is awesome though

I made a reservation Friday night at JCT Kitchen for a smaller group of 9. The large group with the bunch of kids will be harder. The problem is compounded by the fact that the parents are a diverse group - the Grand Isle worked for us in NOLA, but still there was one mom that thought it a little "fancy".

In a metro area of 6 million I find this to be a remarkable statement.
In what part of town do you live?

Very nice, great restaurant in a cool area.
As for the fancy comment, it is definitely not a sports bar It is on the nicer side. It is priced about what you would expect. If you get there and completely decide it is too nice there is a taqueria del sol right there to that is decent and very relaxed. Will be tough for a big group tho. There is also a 5 seasons brewing around the corner that is fairly large.
If y'all are in a drinking mood walk over to Ormsby's after dinner.
