Certainly possible.

It would be difficult to pick Atlanta in a 7 game series against the Spurs, Warriors, Grizz, etc..., depsite Atlanta's regular season success against them. Nobody has seen this team succeed in the postseason, so it's hard to just assume they will.

Or to put it more specifically for people like you, they have been rolling since LeBron came back now that he's healthy. The new guys are settling into their roles and they got Dion Waiters out of the locker room.

That's definitely debatable.

Yes, the East is an easier path than the West...they aren't going to just waltz into the Finals either.

Not collectively handing them the title isn't "underestimating".

there arent many teams in NBA history that have just busted out all of a sudden and became an NBA champion. That's why im not buying ATL. They need to cut their teeth for a few years and prove they are worthy.
Let's start with a long playoff run first. Regular season hot streaks don't mean shite.

Thank you. For a minute there, I was taking you at your post of saying that a team has been rolling after a half week's worth of games (which is like 2-3 tops).

We will learn a lot more when they get the Wiz, Warriors, then Grizz in a 5 day span in about a week in a half. I'm excited.

Exactly. You can pinpoint a team pretty much every year that steamrolled the league the first half of the season, then fizzled-out come playoff time. The only redeeming quality is that most of the teams in the East aren't exactly battle-tested either...but, if LeBron and the Cavs keep rolling along and come together, it is going to be a problem for Atlanta.

So you call half of the regular season a hot streak? This team isn't going to just start being bad at some point. It's not like someone is just playing really well right now and will cool off. There are like 8 players on that team that have to play bad at the same time to slump since they don't have like a big 3.

unless the NBA moved to a 50 game schedule, this isnt half of the regular season.
and while they have played well vs the West, the majority of their wins are against the EAstern conference.
It's just hard to win in the playoffs without any tried and true players, and ATL doesn't have any. Maybe they do surprise and come out of the east, but im not betting on them.

No one is talking about them "being bad"...we are talking about an organization that hasn't won a playoff series in four years all of a sudden winning a title. It typically doesn't work that way and they shouldn't be considered the most likely to do it at this point.

the hawks have like 20x the playoff experience that the warriors have. both of the 2 people talking on this page have the warriors at #1. cleveland's 2nd and 3rd best players have never even been to the playoffs.
the hawks "hot streak" has gone on for 35 games now. that's not a "hot streak."
can we just admit we are making up bullshite to discredit the hawks? that's all i ask.
OR provide some kind of consistency and drop the warriors out of your top 15 contenders. wait, that'd be pretty fricking stupid? yeah, i agree.

Serious question, in a playoff game when the Hawks are down 2-1 in the series, on the road in Game 4 when they pretty much have to win, and they fall behind by 8 points with 6 minutes to go, who on that team will tell everyone else "Give me the ball, I got this"? Every championship team recently has had a guy or two like that.
2014 Spurs had Leonard, Parker
2012-2013 Heat had LeBron and half of Wade
2011 Mavericks had Dirk
2009-2010 Lakers had Kobe
2008 Celtics had Pierce
2007 Spurs had Parker, Duncan, Ginobili
2006 Heat had Wade
2005 Spurs had Duncan, Ginobili, Parker
Etc......

They are swaying my opinions a bit, but they've already had one big win streak earlier this season and fell apart.
LeBron took two weeks off when most of the league is dealing with tired legs. It's not surprising he seems to have gotten his burst back that he's lacked for a large chunk of the season.
I still have zero faith in their ability to win 4 straight 7 game series still though

The Hawks as a team haven't won a playoff series in four years...so no, they don't have "playoff experience".

They also have LeBron James.

No one is "making anything up." They aren't a tested team.

No one dropped Atlanta out of the top 15.

Local reports were that was more than just tired legs. He was having back issues that needed rest, and he got that rest. Now he looks rejuvenated. He should do it again if the Cavs have a playoff spot locked up with a month or so to go in the regular season.

honestly playoff experience in the west isn't as important. Every night is w playoff game. The Warriors have been on the verge for a few seasons now. You can't deny that.
Meanwhile the Hawks snuck into the playoffs last year with 38 wins. I mean if you really want to draw on the past we can

4 years is a bit misleading since it's been 3 without one and they will win one this year, but that's fine. i get they havent won a series in a few years. i dont get how that matters for them, but not for golden state. they won an extra 2 playoff games last year, so they have what it takes, but atlanta doesnt?
the 2 best players on the team happen to have existed before the past 3 years and have won playoff series. hell, horford and teague have never missed the playoffs. korver has only played in 70 playoff games. millsap in 55. sefolosha off the bench has played in 80 of them. it's a myth. you can perpetuate it all you want, but these guys are all super experienced in the playoffs.

it was outta the top 10. my mistake.
