I agree when you are talking about a lot of the modern quick game #stepandthrow. However, some offenses require 3 and 5 step drops out of the gun. the QB has to (1) catch the rock (2) carryout out a 3-5 step drop (3) then go through progressions. Not an easy task.
The short of is, when watching film, check out his footwork (under center or not). Is he looking off receivers (moving safeties with his eyes), find 2nd and 3rd receivers.
