Yeah its amazing how some posters refuse to give Miles credit for our offenses in 2006&2007 but they blame him when our offense isnt great. There are posters on this site that think Mett was developed by Richt .Mett spent a total of 6 months on UGA's campus.
You can tell them til you are blue in the face but like children, they won't accept facts. As a matter of fact, FSU fans hated Fisher for his play calling and his QB play at FSU. It wasn't until Manuel's final year that they gave him any respect as an OC or HC.
Bobo taught Mett all of half a year before he left to JUCO. I mean you have several morons on this board actually say that Butler Community College QB coach developed him more than Cam did.
Even with a year to sit and learn the offense, Mett still looked very erectile and had all kinds of problems as a redshirt junior. That's with all these amazing talents like Landry and Beckham who believed Cam never improved.
Think about LSU's offense is, if you can dominant here, you will be really good in the NFL.

Maybe Jennings is to miles as Aaron brooks was to Haslet. Harris is the new Delhomme.

Imagine having a coach that could focus on the Quarterbacks and Receivers only . Maybe Major Applewhite . Is this not possible with the coaching rules ?

The biggest thing we have to remember is Cam and Les are old school ground and pound guys. Cam probably has no where near the understanding of the zone read offense that Urban Meyer has. It takes time to understand mesh points, reads and etc.. right now we really have no identity on offense. We have all the talent in the world but until they decide what they truly are and recruit to that style we will continue to see stagnant play.

Uptopar the offense is complex for kids to learn. LF has told me himself he struggled with it for a good while. Harris had trouble digesting all the things that came with it point blank

Ok so since it is complicated, and it has zero production. What would an intelligent person do with the offense?

Well now that they are in their second or third year with the offense. It should be second nature to some. I truly believe we will see a jump to a multiple offense and production to take advantage of our qbs threat to run.

Because LSUs offensive scheme is so complex, right?
Yes. It is.
That's probably because nobody has ever see this "complex offensive scheme" right? That includes opposing teams.

The Tigers have not had a real quarterbacks coach since Jimbo Fisher.

He couldn't do it practice so you can't play him. I went to practices all year. He couldn't command the play book in September or November. He has a lot of work to do. I made a statement on here in August that AJ would take 75%+ of snaps because Harris wasn't ready. Got blasted He never got ready . If he gets it together, lookout. The entire 15 season is in the balance.

Last year was his learning year. This year he should get plenty of shots. Miles knows he is the better QB (he said it the day O and Steele were hired) but he will play a lot more. No matter how good you are, its hard to go in as a true freshman and play QB in the SEC

The "offense" that Mett learned while he sat a year at LSU and then the 1st year he started WERE UNDER STUDRAWA, not Cam.
Mett was only under Cam for his last year.

no one can deny the incredible transformation Mett made from the 2012 to the 2013 season. No one should expect that kind of transformation in one season for Harris and Jennings,
The big leap for Mett from 2012 to 2013 was because he went from having Studrawa as an OC to Cam!!!
Stud was so bad that any legit new coordinator was going to provide a lot of improvement just by default. Oh, and we had two NFL receivers and an NFL RB.

Yeah, LSU offense is really complicated, dive play off tackle. I don't think Les or Cam are capable of coaching any QB.

Good lord, now we've moved on to the excuse that our O is hard to learn.
Most college offenses aren't complex. NCAA rules limit practice time and coaches know that they can't install NFL-type offenses with all the wrinkles. Most of these kids don't have the ability to play in the NFL, so coaches water down the offenses to keep them generally understandable.
If anyone watching our O this year thinks it was overly complex, they're just delusional and looking for more excuses for our horrid QB play.
Now, I'll acknowledge that the O Cam WANTS to run may be complex, but the stuff we saw this year wasn't complex at all. Anybody arguing otherwise is just searching really hard for another excuse.

Hasn't it been pretty well acknowledged that a big reason for our offense this year was because Cam didn't do precisely this?

Why do you automatically assume that the difference between the two offenses is the complexity of the scheme and not the talent or development of the QBs?
Honest question, need an honest answer, Do you think Brandon Harris would have success at Ohio State?
Or rather which school would Brandon Harris have more success at...LSU? or Ohio State?

Depends on how you define success. He would absolutely have more success at the collegiate level but would likely fare no better in the NFL than Tebow or Pryor or Braxton, etc. etc.

quote:Jeez. The "excuse" is a perfect storm of inexperienced players in skill positions, crippling the passing game. Harris is physically more gifted than Jennings, but was lost in the playbook; that much we all pretty much accept.

Keep in mind the WRs didn't help the situation. Dural was the only guy with ANY experience, and he was coming off a 7 catch season. Note- the ONLY guy. There were no juniors or seniors at all, no experienced backups who could help out with knowledge in the huddle, if not as a primary target. Diarse, a redshirt freshman, was literally the 2nd most experienced WR we had.
It takes time to transition to new players; look at the Saints. Cooks was their 1st rd pick, but you still saw Brees throwing more to an aging Colston or an injured Graham early on, while Cooks was learning what to do. Had there been all new players with no vets, it would have been a mess.

Chilge1: you and I just seem to see things differently.
I'd argue that the problem wasn't that Cam DIDN'T oversimplify the offense enough, it was that he DID.
The offense (formations, play-calling, personnel) was entirely predictable. Looked like a middle school offense. Maybe the reason Cam went extreme vanilla is that he didn't have a QB he could trust, but still, I didn't see the "complexity" everyone is talking about.
So I don't think the problem this year was an overly-complex offense. Just the opposite.
