If the upgrade is anything close to what 8 was from 7....it is going to be awesome.

What a load of shite.
I could be wrong but I am FEARFUL of the "Free Upgrade for the First Year."
Does this mean they are moving the OS to a subscription system?
I actually love MS but if they even hint at moving the OS to yearly subscription then I will keep my Win 7 and Win 8.1 boxes forever.
Hopefully they mean the 10 upgrade is free but 10.1 will be paid and not that my 10 will expire.

For an FPS, xboxers would get wrecked. Would be fun.

According to Reddit, it doesn't expire. You just have to upgrade within a year of Windows 10 release.

Did they announce a release date? Do we have any idea?

My roommate works for Microsoft and has it running on his machine and has had a lot of issues. He's had to reinstall the entire OS at least 3-4 times. I'm sure it will be stabilized for the Consumer Preview release though.
