I would love an offense that would score enough points so that we are not biting our nails off 'til the last minute in every big game. We hardly ever win going away. Too many cliff hangers. Oh, and one that is not so dang boring. Other than that, I'm good.

Pro style with a passing game.
See UGA & USC

It seems to require an NFL talent 5th year senior to function. Awful.

any offense looks like shite when you don't have the players to run it effectively
Just don't understand why Les & Cam can't figure that out!!

Unless a QB is developed by another coach it doesn't seem LSU can produce a quality QB. All the guys we recruit are highly rated guys. They don't progress through reads. For the most part the TE position is forgotten.
Need to be more dynamic in the run game. Everyone saw how well we did when we ran the Sweep to Dural against A&M. Because any team facing us only respects the power play because that is basically all we run. Though when Miles finds a play that works, example: the Sweep to Dural he is going to run it into the ground.
Also need to be less predictable with play calls. Whenever we ran a Screen this year the moment the ball was snapped you almost knew it was going to be a screen to the RB with how it developed. The Defenses figured it out pretty fast too and the QB threw the ball into the ground because the play was dead.
Offensive line really hasn't developed well either. We were supposed to be one of the best offensive lines this year. A lot of the blame is put on Jennings which is deserved, but a lot should look at the OLine too. I also hate seeing LSU run a screen where there are 2 Lineman going downfield to block for a RB. Neither guy is blocking, they let one defensive player run right by them and he make the tackle.
I have nothing wrong with a pro-set, if it executes. And some of that comes from developing the players.

I would rather traditional with normal play calling play action ,TE pops over the middle, boot passes. Some shot gun, wildcat, and hurry up depending on the situation. You can still be a smash mouth team just throw 40% of the time.

Echoing the thoughts of everyone else. We must develop qb's 1st. The style isn't the most important thing it's having an efficient passing game and a coaching staff that attacks the opponents weaknesses LSU has never done that under Miles.

I believe Mettenberger was a better QB than Jefferson.
Now can you name me one very solid QB to be on campus at LSU as a Freshman not recruited or played under Saban/Fisher.

Can't wait to hear, as the spring game approaches, what Ole Cam Cameron has to say about LSU's development at QB.

We don't have a prostyle offense. We run 70-80% of the time. What pro team does that? CLM runs a middle school offense with an occasional jet sweep.

With putrid OL, JJ RAT is actually better than Mett as 1st year starter (09 vs 12), but easy to see Mett had more ceiling.

Hard to say with only one start to his name. Even though it was on a huge stage.
But RP was on our 2005-2006 team so still started developing under Fisher.
Point is, since Fisher left LSU our QB development has been abysmal for guys that have started out at LSU.
2008 is the first year that a QB not recruited or developed by Saban or Fisher played for LSU.

Posters love to talk about this, but truth remains Mett failed to unseat Lee or JJ when he arrived, so what does that say about his development prior to arriving LSU, and his polish when he left?
A first year starter in the NFL, ftw.

And people keep claiming this same thing comparing it to Harris and Jennings. That Harris cannot unseat Jennings.
There is no disclaimer about it. There is a very large fact that since LSU lost Fisher the development/evolution of the Offense has gone south.
Anything would have been better than what we saw in the SEC Championship Game vs Georgia and National Championship Game vs Alabama.
Jefferson vs Georgia
5/13 for 30 yards and 1 TD and 0 INT
6 rushes for -5 yards
Jefferson vs Alabama
11/17 for 53 yards and 0 TD and 1 INT
14 rushes for 15 yards and a fumble
You're honestly telling me that Mettenberger getting an opportunity with Randle, OBJ, Landry, Ware, Ford, Hillard, etc... Could not have done better?
I honestly believe he would have easily.
But to each their own.

No one was unseating JJ. Not tom Brady, Payton, or Joe Montana.
No one.
No one.

i like the idea, but open things up a bit (im talking about the run game, actually, sadly) i liked the zone read stuff and the jet sweeps with dural and MIQUEL but give more ace looks, spread them out with three wides or an extra one of our esteemed tight endsand a single back, too much insistence on the i formation. the passing game is a whole other thread

The running game has hardly ever failed us. However it has struggled when defenses do not respect the pass.
This passing game has been what is frustrating. It seems like every 3 years or so things seem to click for a season. I'm not sure if that reflects on experience, coaching, or our scheme. Perhaps it has been a combination of both.
It just seems like guys need a few years to understand how to run the offense, but outside looking in it doesn't seem very complicated.
