Fifteen minutes before the current would sweep you to your death or a barge would mow you down.

Stay close to the shore, figure 5 days or so.
Assuming you aren't arrested for violating a secured area.

Didn't a guy just do this from somewhere up north to New Orleans on a paddle board for charity?

I remember a couple people swimming it from way up north to NOLA. If I remember right they were tethered to a boat.

Friend of mine took his son's boy scout troop canoeing on the river last summer. They all made it back.

True story, a couple years back two Canadians rode down the entirety of the river on kayak. They stopped a friend of mines land in north la, he gave them some beer and food.

Arent there parts of the river up north that you could basically pee across?
ID assume the worst of it is down here.

Be a real man and go from NO to BR

I usually figure 2-4 mph on any river. The ms has a slow current, you would be paddling, not just coasting.
Is this legal?
I want to do it...

South of Old River I think there is some understanding that you are on your own to some extent.
Been years since I knew someone who went down it on a boat. They put it on Red River, went past New Orleans through Industrial Canal and back up to the Amite River on a party barge.
Possibly rules have changed, shite was 20 years ago.
