Met a girl who paddled from Minn. to NO. Took her about three months.

In 2006, I kayaked the entire Mississippi River. It took about 2.5 days to get from Baton Rouge to Algiers Point.
It was the heaviest barge and ship traffic on the whole trip and campsites were tough to come by.
The BR to NOLA leg was in mid-August when the river was low and a south wind was constant.
This leg was the most dangerous and least scenic of the 2326 miles between Lake Itasca, MN and the Gulf of Mexico.

That's awesome.

What were the coolest/most fun area's?

Could be:

Scenery, Bars, Places to check out?

Most beautiful was the upper river, north of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Wildlife everywhere. Met some great people along the way, including two guys in a canoe doing the whole trip also. I paddled with them for a few days until they eventually pulled away from me.
The upper river is breathtakingly beautiful and the water is crystal clear. Of the 79-day trip, it took me 28 days to get out of MN. When I got to St. Louis, I hunkered down and completed the trip in 22 more days.
