Note: There’s quite a few people with conspiracy theories on this: They think Nick Saban set up this possibility by going on a rant about “second chances” a couple of weeks that you can read HERE.

Jerry Hinnen, who is a pretty good twitter follow for CFB even though he's an Auburn guy, was torching Bama last night about this.

He's about the only DT we have any shot at and he sounds like as much trouble as G Willis.

It is interesting that Bama would take a flier on this guy. I wonder if this is more a sign of need on their part, or just attempting to keep him away from their competitors?

I'd have to meet him first and see him interact with other players before I let him on board. I don't know the kid, so I cannot judge.

Nose tackles are a rare breed. Maybe they don't have one ready.

he's a legit prospect and Saban laid the groundwork with his emotional second chances speech two weeks ago. plus, they keep him away from others and can tell him to hit the bricks in a year if they want (they aren't in dire need of a star DT anyways).

Supposedly the "rant" was about Pettway (?) who was involved in the beating/robbery of another student....but I heard a guy on Mobile Radio last week make the point it could be preemptive for this guy too.

Man, what he did was not cool. I hate to think we'd have to pick between him and Willis. Maybe we can just pass on both and make sure Valentine stays eligible.

very well could be about both. Maybe Saban truly believes that and this was his opportunity to speak on his opinion. Who knows.

Hope he ain't like that West Virginia DT we got last year...

They have A'Shawn Robinson, but his backup, Brandon Ivory, is graduating. Maybe they don't feel too good about the third guy.

want to hear something really fricked up?
it's being reported that bama will make him attend anger management classes and volunteer at a battered women shelter...
you mean to tell me, you are going to send someone who beat a women to volunteer at a battered women's shelter? That's like letting a pedophile volunteer at a day care. Why in the frick would you let someone that large and intimidating, along with his history be around these delicate women?

I see your point but I think they're a little different. I'm not a mental illness pro, but pedophilia would require some sort of desire or uncontrollable urge to have sexual encounters with children. An abuser doesn't necessarily have that type of uncontrollable urge (for the most part). I would imagine an abuser has anger issues and lack of self control, something they could arguably control. Pedophiles may not have that for the most part.
Now, placing a known abuser in a women's shelter would still be a reach, imo. Especially a high profile person that is known to have hit women.
Again, completely off topic

good point, but my concern would be for the women's mental stability around a guy like this...
any battered women shelter that would allow this is fricking crazy. places like that are suppose to be a safe haven for these women and provide a sense of security. a 340lb man convicted of hitting a woman being inside of these walls makes 0 sense other than a bull shite PR move.

exactly. that is my main concern.

He won't be allowed near a battered women's home/shelter. They don't operate quite like that.

yeah, that's why i was shocked to see that as part of his terms to play at bama

Believe his GF is at LSU. Not 100-percent on that
Anywho, was supposed to commit to LSU In Fall, but Administration stepped in and would not take him until his legal issues were behind them.
