I guess if you want a payment for life them fine, but I despise a car payment. It has its purpose but I just can't stand it. So for me personally, I'll never have a lease. IF I'm lucky enough to be able to pay for a vehicle I'll always choose that option.

The point is to minimize how much the dealership is winning on you. You walk into Costco and leave with $500 worth of shite. You think Costco isn't winning on you

I just don't think the average buyer ($50K) comes out ahead leasing.
I would love to know who the average buyer is
I just see so many different types of buyer...only real pattern I see is the folks that buy the vehicles we deal tend to have Superb Credit Scores.

You think you're doing that by leasing?

That is definitely something I claimed.

What do you have against leasing?

People must be getting smarter. Good.

Out of pure curiosity...howd your situation turn out with the truck?
Posted on 1/7/15 at 1:13 pm to LNCHBOX
I was about to buy a new Nissan Rogue for my wife while visiting the in-laws at Thanksgiving. They asked 31k and I got em down to 24k, extended full warranty, and said if they can do 23 and give me 2k over what I actually wanted for the trade in that I'd do it.
They said no and I got up and walked out. That night he called and said "you've got the deal". I had already left town.

Mileage limits, security deposits, excess fees, hidden stuff you probably aren't even aware of. It looks to me like you don't have much of a clue about how any of it works.

I ended up in a Mustang GT Got $26k for the truck, and what I would say was a good deal on the car I bought. Did have to go to houston for it though.
Your deal was the best I'd have gotten on a Honda, I'll always keep you in mind should I need one (and recommend you to others as well).

Appreciate that. Happy you got what you were looking for. I knew I was close on that trade number.

You want to rent a house your entire life?

Depreciation on a fixed asset over useful life in years. You see, I don't mind have a payment, because I choose to have a new car every couple years. You can negotiate a lease just like a purchase. The OP was smart in investigating employee buying, i.e Plan A. If you're leasing a car that's in the $60-100K range leasing is the only way to go without absorbing depreciation.

Then leasing is perfect for you. You understand why you're doing it...all that matters.

Cars today last longer and hold value better than ever before.
A car certainly isn't worn out at 36,50, or even a 100K. Plus, most basic warranties are in the 4 year/50K range with an OEM 100K warranty being available for only $1200 or so.
The basic problem with leasing is that you will never build equity and you will always have a car note.
Now, there may be legit personal reason(new car every 3 years) or certain business advantages to leasing, but for most buyers, leasing is a far more expensive option than just biting the bullet and financing a car.

I get why leasing is good for you. However I now know that you are horrible with money management.

We have the 2011 XLT with the 3.5L. We like it a lot. the power is not substantial but we get great gas mileage ~21 in city and ~27 on hwy. The engine is more than enough for what you want probably ( I am coming from a Hemi)

I'd be willing to wager his credit score is 750 or above...with plenty of money in the bank.
