Sony Really Is A Terrible Company

I've had a Sony Blu-Ray player for years that I've had no issue with until now. However, I recently went to play some new discs I got for Christmas and the player would not recognize them despite the discs being brand new. I did some research online and apparently, I'm not the only one to have this problem. Sony has a software error that it preventing it's players from reading Blu Rays made after a certain year.
It still plays my older discs, btw.

Maybe you should read reviews before purchasing expensive equipment.

Tried updating the software on the device?

North Korea hacked your Blu ray player.

People still use Blu Ray players?

Just run a cable to your router from your player and update the software. Problem solved. Won't have to do that with WiFi capable players. My Sony blu ray player is 4 years old and it works fine.

Dude, this is normal for Blu-ray players. You have to keep the firmware updated regularly or newer movies may not play.
Update the firmware and you will be fine.

Go to settings on your player and look for software updates. If it is not wi-fi compatible run an Ethernet cable from your cable router to the player. There should be an input for this.

So Sony is really a terrible company since you are technologically challenged. Makes sense - thanks for sharing yours and supposedly Sony's shortcomings. Good luck with the rest of your life. I foresee a lot of posts from you bashing other companies in the future.

Threaten them with violence, they'll do whatever you want.

All players have issues like this with new copy protection schemes, and the solution is to update the firmware. Your post unfortunately left out the model number, so there is no way anyone can check this independently.

This was a reason why the PS3 was considered one of the best BluRay players on the market for a long time. They continuously updated the software to support the latest stuff, it provided a very good picture and it also gave you a lot of other media options.
As for your problem, what connections do you have on it? If you don't have a way to get it online, you might have a usb slot you can put a firmware update on and go that route.

So Sony is a bad company because you have outdated technology?
