Next season open the play book on offense

Texas A&M and the bowl game were good moves in the right direction. Should have been done from the start of the season and built upon so that by the end of the season it would have looked a lot smoother and less confused. Fournette can run in space and catch the ball out of the backfield. He doesn't have to be limited to power running out of the I.

Give Fournette the lions share of carries and sling the goddamn ball. Throw Harris in there and give him every opportunity to succeed. frick the philosophy we have at the moment, it's burying us alive. Let's get with the fricking program and put some life and energy into this team. We have all the talent we could ask for.

dam straight. Modern football offenses at all levels, high school to the pros, are wide open. It's the way the game is played now. It's what works.

Jennings isn't as bad as most posters claim IMO, but Harris fits the modern game much better. He's a dynamic explosive type. Watching Ziarre made me think of Harris. True freshman with a big arm and is dangerous running. Could do the Golson/Zairre thing with Jennings and Harris and let them both get PT until one of them shows they clearly are the better player. If our offense is so confusing and complicated because it is so called 'pro style' then dump it or at least modify it greatly (like the pros are actually doing these days).

Cam needs to start feeling some heat in his seat.

yep, I think it would help recruiting even more and breathe new life into the program. This program needs a breath of fresh air.

Maybe if Cam's O is so 'tough to learn' then he should tone it down a notch and be more flexible to what our players can learn and what their strengths are. From a fans standpoint it looks as if he's stubborn with his system and is totally unwilling to adjust.

I couldn't have said it any better.

All Les has to do is hire Clancy Pendergast and Scott Frost, sit back, collect championships.

Not directing this to you. just in general.
first, Miles is the head coach. Cam is the subordinate.
When miles wants to adjust, he will tell Cam what to do.
My boss doesn't let me do whatever the frick I want to do. Cam is following orders.
Even if Cam was running this particular offense, then when it looks like shite, miles should tell Cam "hey this looks like shite. We're gonna do something else because I'm the fricking boss and I call the shots"
If we trot out this offense in the spring game, then just get ready for another long boring season. And just realize this is what Miles wants to run come hell or high water.

Looks like he may be trying to adjust but it was to late in the season. NOt sure it is in him to fully embrace a modern offense though.

If Les Miles would swallow his pride and reinvent himself like Gary Patterson did this year LSU would get back to competing for championships.
Patterson went outside of his comfort zone of being a vanilla, predictable, run attack and went out and hired 2 of the brightest offensive minds in the country and brought the Air Raid to Fort Worth. The rest is history. That one decision has completely reinvigorated their program and has them back to being in the conversation like they were 4 years ago.
If Les would ever make the same decision with the boat load of freak athletes that we have at Wide Receiver & Running Back LSU would be back to challenging for the whole thing. It's obviously never going to happen as long as he is at LSU but if he did LSU would have the same turn around as you saw with TCU this year.

It would help if we recruited a quarterback with an IQ high enough for him to read the thing.

Did you see what they did with Smith? I want more of that.

Have you seen the play calling? Simple routes, one or two reads. Jennings just isn't good. This offense has been dumbed down, but they really didn't want to throw Harris out there early. We had to waste his redshirt because there was no other way. He must have been really bad in practice. He will have to open it up even more this year. Time to go 3 WR as a base offense. Let the kids play in the shotgun a little more.

This!
And as far as the playbook, the zone read, a toss sweep, jet sweep, screen pass, and two play action roll outs would win a lot of games because it involves some deception and allows talent to take over.
Maybe this would get Harris comfortable and on the field and in position to make plays. We wasted his freshman year when he should have been redshirted if he couldn't grasp the play book. Other than Auburn, how many plays did he log?
