PS3 suddenly will not display in 1080p

My PS3 is a couple years old. I notice that Netflix is not showing in 1080 and I rarely play video games but I tried and they also are not in 1080. However, other HDMI inputs on that Samsung TV still show 1080. So I changed the HDMI cable and I moved the cable to another HDMI input on the Samsung. Still reverts back to 720. Is it safe to say it is some sort of video card issue? Thanks in advance

Did the same, exact show used to show in 1080..?

Not all are
..Could just be that the TV port is flaking out..Does PS show 1080 on another port..? The wording is funny..

I'm pretty sure there are zero games that use 1080p resolution on the PS3/360.
Misread your post. Your TV is scaling down to 720p? Have you tried to hook up another device to it?

Did it show before? Just download an update?
I always forced it to 1080p. Go into setting video and disabled all but 1080p. I know it forced games that normally didn't display in 1080 into 1080.

Yes, it has always shown in 1080. Not that the feed is actually 1080 but the input reads 1080 on the screen and the print on the opening PS3 screens looked smaller and sharper. Now it reads 720 and the print on opening PS3 looks bigger and uglier

I went to video setting and put 1080 to "on". It refreshes and shows in what appears to be 1080 (again the print is smaller and looks sharp. However, when I click yes to keep the new settings it fades to black and comes back 720 again

Yes, my cable and GoogleChromcast work with 1080 feeds. I tried switching the HDMI cable and the HDMI port. No luck

ETA: After seeing that you said you moved ports, and have the same issue...
I googled your question and was surprised at all the answers..I also learned the difference in how PS3 handles resolutions versus other devices

Perhaps your internet is having issues, and it is lowering your resolution..
That actually could be it. I guess I could turn off all devices on network and see if it stays on 1080. Thanks

Did you try checking only the 1080p box?
ETA: Read somewhere the choosing Auto will make it go to the highest resolution that your TV can handle. Was Auto checked?

About 6 months ago my PS3's HDMI port died...I tried different cables, ports, devices...then plugged in component cable and displayed fine...pissed me off but it is rarely used for games, and now just use it for netflix/NAS movies

I do this but when I click "yes" to keep changes it fades to black and reverts back to 920

Bump.
I watched a Blue_ray disc for the first time in while last night. It was in 1080. So now I wonder if that helps figure this out. PS3 "desktop" and Netflix revert back to 720 even when I go to setting and switch. But PS3 Blue-Ray plays in 1080. Thoughts?

Since you fancy yourself the Alpha around here, do you care to share these answers?

You spent three months not googling the answer yourself, then you bump the thread asking for the results you never looked for yourself....

Did Google them. I even mentioned in the thread some of my attempts. As you see above, you had to edit your initial entry here as you were quick to sass me months ago before reading.
You act like I am on here all the time asking for help without searching first. I have searched and used the same thread with new information as to avoid being critiqued by the likes of you

As opposed to ATT holding firm to upgrade dates, internet cutting off, and replacing a broken Galaxy 3s sans contract?
Gotcha.
