Moreover, once people see these things, debunking them is nigh on impossible.
I've a cousin who loves the Gasland docs. She KNOWS and ACCEPTS that the makers made some shite up. Didn't get some things wrong, just MADE SOME shite UP!!
Does this make her question the credibility of the parts of the film where people can't prove the filmmaker's were playing fast and loose? Nope.

quote:No. I never lamented the existence of left-leaning docs because I actually like to watch them, in direct opposition of your assertion that I'm "afraid" of them. My point, two-fold, was to note the far fewer number of right-leaning pieces on similar topics, and that the right might benefit from delving more into this medium. Your post was a bad miss.
amiright?

I enjoyed Inequality for All. While I don't always agree with the ideas presented, I like learning about different views. And almost always in political pieces, I come away either having learned something new or with a new view of something.

Now maybe it's true that there are more "lefty" documentaries that "righties". but I would say that you have a larger personal definition of what is "lefty" than most people as well. Either way, you didn't establish a fact. If you were making a documentary people would turn it off in the first 5 minutes.
At least far reaching documentaries are generally based on facts in the beginning to build there case and tend to stretch the truth later on.

You'll find some, but they generally aren't popular. Propaganda sells better than fact.

quote:I've seen a few, and have enjoyed some while cringing during others, which is probably why they lack popularity. I think better quality docs to put on Netflix would be a good investment for the right, especially to counter the resented slants espoused by the MSM and Hollywood.

The right sucks at propaganda, they are losing that war. Also, industries like film, media, communications are dominated by folks who lean left.

You don't seem to understand the definition of "fact" or "evidence".
quote:After perusing all of the titles and topics, and watching a good number of them, the left clearly dominates the Netflix venue. That's all the facts and evidence I need. If you disagree, I'm not going to argue with you, nor go title-by-title to hash it out. But, your pointing out a handful of right-leaning documentaries doesn't negate my broader observation.
When you show either one in this thread maybe we can talk.

The right needs to learn how to appeal to the emotional thinkers out there, or they'll continue to lose the propaganda wars.

I am pretty conservative and I know your political leaning. I must say that this was one hell of a post that I agree with you 100% on.

i've thought about the concept of a reverse colbert report

quote:Thank you. Funny thing is I am not a big Michael Moore fan and will probably check out some of the "righty" documentaries like Mitt or 2016 (it is only a year away) as a result of this post.

Think a show like that would have some haters?

michael moore's success
Moore's approach has been influential on a lot of younger filmmakers, but he or others with his approach are not the only documentary filmmakers out there. There's a hell of a lot of variety in style and approach.
Errol Morris (Fast, Cheap and Out of Control; Fog of War; The Thin Blue Line)
Nick Broomfield (Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer; Kurt and Courtney)
Andrew Jarecki (Capturing the Friedmans)
Jeffrey Blitz (Spellbound)
Ken Burns (The Civil War; Baseball)
etc, etc,

Reverse Colbert. Omg. It is as if you missed the entire point.

You're leaving out the constant barrage of interracial promotion (always a black man with a white woman, never the other way around) and the constant gay stuff.

Honestly, TD is the one place that reminds me people like you still exist.
