I hate everyone

This is such a low risk move for the Rockets. If he buys in, we are clear contenders. If he doesn't, we bench him or waive him. It's costing us 2 million. There were rumors this offseason that we were gonna give him 15 million per. I hated that but I LOVE this.

Rockets are about to fricking implode. Gonna be fun when Harden or Howard are standing wide open and Smith is shooting contested 25 footers with 14 seconds left on the shot clock. Maurey you fricking genius!

Merry Christmas, boys.
People who think this isn't a good a move have very little knowledge about the game. His role in Houston will be completely different from his role in Detroit.

This team better make it out of the first round or Dork Elvis will be working at Grantland in a year or two.

Rockets are going all in with this overall group:
"The Houston Rockets have signed coach Kevin McHale to a three-year, fully guaranteed contract extension valued in excess of $12 million, according to ESPN sources and multiple reports.
General manager Daryl Morey confirmed the signing on Twitter."

Josh Smith would be a fine pick up under the right coach. Could be a good defender, rebounder, passer and scorer if he was in the right system. Not sure he's coachable now though, I haven't paid much attention to him since he's been pigeon holed into the "great dunker" category of useless players.
I will say that Houston is stronger now than when they had Yao and TMac, and that's saying something at least. If they could get JVG back, they'd be dangerous.

The fact is that Detroit owed this dude a boatload of money over the next two years and decided to waive him. That screams knucklehead regardless of what position they had him playing.
He's Houston's problem now.
