What's the story on the near shoot down of Patton's plane by the RAF? I haven't heard about that before.
After he was promoted to four star general he was flying to american occupied portuon of germany i believe. Came face to face with a RAF spitfire that had polish markings on it. The spitfire chased them down and ended up getting out manuevered by patton's pilot. Records showed that the closest polish spitfire base was out of range from where the attack happened. It also showed that all polish fighter pilots were accounted for. There was a couple hundred spitfires that were donated to russia that some believe accounted for this attack.

The poor Poles get blamed for everything! Germans in Polish uniforms attacked German border crossings to justify the German invasion of Poland and now Russians in British planes with Polish markings are trying to kill Patton. I wonder if those attack boats in the Gulf of Tonkin had Polish markings too?!?
Interesting story, thanks for the details!
