Darth,

I believe you but you didn't make any reference to your grandfather in your original post. We're not mind readers and appreciate your granddads service to his country.

The reason i did not mention him in the OP was because the OP was about the message given to the Germans. Later someone mentioned how the 101st reacted to being relieved. Well my grandfather was part of that relief. The only reason I mentioned him was due to the natural progression of the conversation in the thread where someone else mentioned an aspect of the battle that had to do with my grandfather.

WTF?

Dr Tyger posted a quote from Joe Toye about Patton "saving" the 101st. Darth replied, on a personal note, my grandfather was a tanker in the 4th Armored Div and his unit spearheaded Patton's counterattack at Bastogne.

Where's the confusion? The post hasn't been deleted. Read the thread...

I gave up and was going to let him land this plane...

For clarification, he replied to himself asking who would be so callus as to downvote and defended his grandfather... I surmised that he meant that someone saw something in the OP and downvoted despite his grandfather having passed. I merely was pointing out, just as you did just now, that he didn't mention his grandfather and thusly, must have been having a conversation in his own head about what he posted.

Dammit, I'm a fricking veteran myself!

(This took WAYYY too long to explain. An I'm the retard. )
