Just bc they lived in the state of Louisiana doesn't make them "hometown kids." A lot of players do not grow up fans of their home state team. Their families aren't LSU season ticket holders. Exceptions would be legacies like Eric Reid and OBJ. Not to take anything away from Saban's ability to recruit, but it's not like he's walking into living rooms where there are LSU banners hanging from the roof. The fact is Bama is close enough to home and can offer the same things that LSU can, and with the copious amount of talent in Louisiana, yea we're going to lose a few elite players every year.
