I can recall being in law school around '97 or '98 and there was ONE chick who walked around school regularly on a cell phone and everyone else was like 'who the frick does she think she is?'

Yep pagers were for doctors and drug dealers and if you had a cell phone and weren't a doctor IN SCRUBS people thought you were a tool. Can even remember doctors being almost apologetic if, in plain clothes, they were seen talking on a phone. They would feel obligated to say "I am a doctor" almost with a shrug.
