Bro, take a chill pill, calm down a little bit, and treat yourself to a drink. Don't worry, I'll drive

Who thinks it is a good idea to ride around without a seat belt? That is almosy as inexcusable as drinkinh and driving.

Oh so the impact that threw her from her seat had little to do with it?
fricking excuses

Anyone defending anyone driving under the influence can GFY.
From the bottom of my heart.

I'll never understand why anyone rides in a vehicle without their seatbelt on.

Just a general question:
Should the responsibility of the driver change at all if the victim wasnt wearing a seatbelt?
In this case, the 2 victims wearing seatbelts had only moderate injuries.

I would like to share an experience with you all about drinking and driving. As you well know some of us have been known to have had rare brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years.
A couple of nights ago I was out for a few drinks with some friends and had a few too many beers and some shots. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit I did something I’ve never done before… I took a bus home.
Sure enough, as it was a bus, they waved it through and I passed the DUI checkpoint.
I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got it!

It may matter in civil court

If it does, I'll make sure it rots off in your wife's mouth.
But really, sad story and it's a chicken shite thing to politicize it, but I wrote that before you edited and I'm keeping my ETA up. Judge away.

Sad story but just because you were never caught or didnt hurt someone doesnt entitle you to hipocrisy.

In the past I've made some bad decisions and luckily no one was ever harmed.
Decisions involving whiskey and benzos, could have hurt someone. I feel blessed that no one was ever harmed through my poor decisions. Lives change everyday through the selfishness of others. Hate that happened to that girl and her family.

I'm glad you brought that up, as it will now become a major point of contention within the context of this thread.
IMO, no seat belt is irresponsible behavior. When you get in a car, not wearing a seatbelt is taking your life in your own hands.
Consequentially, whoever the driver was is also to blame.

A) Never have.
B) Even if I had, there's a difference between being a habitual idiot and making a mistake and seeing the error in your ways. If you're (not you specifically) going to defend it simply because you've been guilty of it before, see my previous post.
