ETA: who is your KS outfitter?

JB Outfitters is a good one. And Wheeler's whitetails is a good one.

The one I hunt with is small and usually has 2-4 hunters in camp at one time. So I am sort of keeping him close to the vest. But i have several friends who hunt in the general south central and south west Kansas area and they have good relationships with their outfitters. Its more the style of hunting and the terrain in that area that carries the day. Look around and find someone you hit it off with.

Also, the best thing I ever did was take a 4 day weekend with a buddy over Labor Day about 10 years ago. We drove to Kansas and visited about 6-7 different outfitters. Some even took us out to glass deer in their fields. We then booked a hunt for the next year with the guy we liked the best. It was time well spent.

Maybe I've just had two bad trips but neither of my 2 hunts at Giles were any good. The lodging and all was great but I saw hardly any deer. It must be totally different when the river is high....saying that I too have hunted all over the country and Canada and if I had a 4-6k $ budget I believe I would mule deer hunt in either Colorado or the Davis Mountains in S Texas. That's just me personally. If I was going to do whitetail it would definitely be south to central Kansas.

Does said wife have a younger sister? Possibly in the blonde variety?

I keep getting clothes and shoes.
