It is very hard to stop a dog during hunting season. There is so much going on. The dog knows what the gun, blind, 4 wheeler, your body language, ....ect. means and he is excited. There is an exception to every rule but most dogs that whine were not introduced to all those things in the proper way. It's time to make the hard decision between if you want to hunt or do you want to train. If you want to fix it let me know and I will give you an opinion on how to fix it.

Shoot more ducks and the dog will stop whining.

Good luck with this. My male did this and so did his mother. Had another buddy who had a stud retriever but his went so far as to damn near bark at the birds so they had to basically make him a house dog.
I guess it may be hereditary. Tried everything and nothing really worked on mine. His whining didn't really flare ducks but it bothered the shite out of me and I knew it annoyed people in the blind/pit. If you cure this let me know how you did it please.

My dog is fearful of me when I get mad, so when I tell him to be quiet, he gets quiet. Try yelling at him every time he barks at home

You should hear my beagles when we stop for breakfast, you'll appreciate a quiet whine. Lots and lots and lots of Ducks will fix part of it. A tired dog is a well behaved dog. Like someone else said the best thing is to take the dog other places other than hunting, she won't get so excited when you put her in the truck to go hunting.

Kill something for him to retrieve.
