2015 TD Money Talk Fantasy Stock Simulation
Come one, come all, to the first ever (maybe) fantasy stock simulator. If you saw the other thread, the idea of this is to get discussion going about different stocks, why we are investing in said stocks, and to just see how good each of us could do, and ultimately see how we do as a group!
The game - Each member will start off with $1,000,000 in their portfolio. If I recall when I set up the game, you can trade pretty much everything, funds included. I will assume that dividends and dividend reinvesting will be included, but I am not sure. In an effort to limit trading penny stocks only, the stocks you purchase must be at least $5.
The game will begin on January 2nd, 2015 and will end on December 4th, 2015 (only option it gave me). IMPORTANT: If you are not signed up by that date, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN! So, join regardless, it is a pretty easy setup, and will be worth it in case you want to join later.
The link to the game is here LINK The password is LSUTigers. When I click the link, it looks like it pull up my profile, maybe because I am logged in, but it should be the game.
IF YOU SIGN UP, USE YOUR USER NAME AS YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME! I LEARNED THIS AFTER IT HAD MY USER NAME THEN LAST NAME.
You are allowed to trade on margin and short sell.
I will reward the winner of the contest a gift card to the place of their choosing! Since some restaurants, businesses, etc, are regional, I will not get one at the beginning. If I do not have access to buy one, we will work something out! Something around $20-$25.
That's about all I can think of now, will probably add more later if I think about it.
There has also been some interest in getting a cash side pot up. If you are interested post in this thread and somebody will run/coordinate everything.

Count me in. I don't know a lot about trading, so this will be a fun learning opportunity.

In an effort to maybe drum up a little more participation, I am looking at ordering a trophy. You think that's a good idea? Just something small that would look good for anyone who works in an office setting.

quote:Sure, why not? I wouldn't accept it if I "won" (slim chance of that happening) because I'd have to give up my anonimit......anoumenit....annimintit.....identity and I don't want to do that.

I used to buy faux-Olympic medals for my staff, complete with a red, white and blue ribbon to hang around the person's neck at our 'ceremony.'
I got them at a local trophy/medals shop in BR so I'm pretty sure they are available everywhere. They have gold, silver and bronze versions and they only cost about $8 each. Just a thought....

Yeah, the more I thought about it, if by chance I won (slimmer chance of that happening), would I really want a trophy for the 2015 Tigerdroppings Money Talk Stock Simulation Champion sitting on my desk? I could imagine the questions I get here in TN about "What is a Tigerdroppings?" and even worse "What is a stock simulation?"
I may do a gift card, or something like that. And if you won and didn't want me to mail it to you, I would gladly accept on your behalf!

Hell no, I'd wear it around my neck.

I would use it as a hood emblem on my Chevy with the butterfly doors.

Saw that too. Didn't recognize the name. Maybe he will join the forum, if he is not a member already, and contribute to the thread.
