He hits a home run with this article on why the time is right for Miles to go to Michigan.

Great thread, and even better link. Would read again.

I actually thought the article was total shite.

Extremely informative. I will now google the article so I can read it.

Rabalais is clearly in the Miles inner circle. I am sure he will take the advice......um, no.
Thinly veiled attempt asking Miles to leave town.

I read most of it. Somebody in this thread referred to it as a thinly veiled suggestion that he leave town. Thinly veiled? Haha! Scott Rab all but said, "Les, let me come help you pack."
I thought it was something like kicking a guy when he's down. And mean spirited at its core.
Don't get me wrong, I have been frustrated with some of Coach Miles' decisions and his approach to using personnel, and his slowness to make needed changes. And I haven't minced words about that here sometimes.
But since 2007 happened, I have never, ever questioned his loyalty to LSU. Which is to say, I have come to believe that if this coach would ever leave LSU, it would be because LSU was not loyal to him. And that includes me and people like me. And for this, I am feeling pretty badly right now. Because I really like and always have liked Les Miles, the person as the face of LSU.
And yes, even with the albatross that is 1/9/12 still hanging around, his body of work here has been beyond anything I would ever have expected. Except maybe in how he does his QBs. But that can be fixed.
Can he get back to some version of the earlier "let 'er rip" Les Miles here? That's a question that remains to be answered. If he can, I'd be happy for him to stay at LSU until he is ready to retire on his own.
And yes, as much as I'd like LSU to beat Alabama - I'd really love for Coach Miles to get back to beating Nick Saban a few more times, as HC of LSU.

Rabelais sucks , hard.

I want Les to stay. But if he goes, I'll be happy for him - though sad for LSU.

Les Miles will be the head ball coach for LSU in 2015.
It has been seen.

Personally, I think it's fine for us fans to talk, complain, hope and argue amongst ourselves about the future of LSU football on an anonymous website.
But I think it is completely wrong for the media to enter into the discussion in a public manner. I can't tell you why I think it's wrong I just don't agree with it, although I agreed with a lot of what he said.
If and only if, Michigan has publicly stated or concrete evidence exists that they want Miles and are pursuing him should that article have been written.
Otherwise it's pure speculation and wishful thinking on rabalais's part.

Article reads like an idiot on a message board wrote it and he actually gets paid as a writer for a newspaper.

Wow Rabalais, hyperbole much? The vast majority regard Les as a top-notch coach. Many are not happy with our offense, me included, but to characterize the entire fanbase as not regarding Les a top-notch coach is ridiculous.

to quote Charlie Brown: "Don't you know sarcasm?"

The underlying truth behind Rabalais' article is this: LSU doesn't deserve Les Miles. The LSU fanbase (and that includes the local media) is delusionally unrealistic. It believes that if only we could find that Saban clone, he could do at LSU what Saban has done at Alabama. Even Saban couldn't (and didn't) do at LSU what he has done at Alabama, because LSU isn't Alabama. Never was. Never will be. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Miles has given LSU far more than LSU has given him, financially and in the currency of loyalty. He should do what his heart and his head tell him to do, whether it's to stay or to go if the opportunity is presented. I, for one, hope he wants to stay at LSU. But he is, in every sense of the term, a free agent.

@Choctaw
I agree, this article is complete bullshite.
Rabalais, and the rest of Tiger Nation, has seen Miles coach LSU through the best 10 year period in the history of the program. You really do have to possess a special kind of ignorance to run off a coach that is absolutely the best fit for your program.

While I don't care for the article because I tend to not like these types of writings, I believe it needs to be said for some of the slower people...
THE ARTICLE IS WRITTEN TONGUE-IN-CHEEK!
Meaning it is pointing out how good Miles is and in turn, scold the LSU fans that think they can do better. Scott is a good guy and definitely a Miles fan; anyone calling otherwise must never read his work.

LSU fans pay their coach over 4 million per year. Screw Rabalais! Get a f'ing dictionary. You obviously have no knowledge of what "unappreciated" means.
