I have a bunch of Michigan Alums in my family. Rich Rod was sabotaged there. They have a ton of "Schenbeckler" people who like "Michigan football" that are influential around the program. They told me that RichRod basically had no chance to succeed there.
There is a reason he had success at evert stop besides Michigan

The good ol boys club there didn't like him coming in and ripping everything apart. He went in there and wanted to fix all the bullshite 3 yards and a cloud of dust B1G stuff. First thing was the weight room. Which he said was substandard then their training methods in the gym were not up to par with the evolution of college football.
His S&C coach Mike Barwis was one of the best in the nation.
