Well, that's essentially what we do have. How is a plowed field with no water a good thing? And how would a layout blind work in the middle of a dirt field? They would stick out like a sore thumb.

In this particular field, the levees have been plowed down almost level with the field, maybe 6" above the field level. It rises up into a slight mound where the 6 man blind is that is maybe 12" above field level with short grass around it and we brush it with long levee grass around the edge so that it drapes over the middle of the blind to try and cover the big black hole.

It's frustrating for sure with so many specks in the area. We are considering going sit in the middle of the field in lawn chairs with decoys about 50 yards from us and giving it a shot. Couldnt be any worse than right now with 3 scratch hunts in a row.

This. Hard to conceal an above ground blind in a rice field. They might not flare but it probably looks just unnatural enough for them to shy away from it.

Had the same thing happen yesterday. At least 6 times.I told my FIL we needed more brush, but hes one of those guys that knows everything about everything. So at the end of the day, 0 ducks.

Next time I get invitied, Im bringing more. Its a sunkin blind in the middle of a rice field. The way I see it, if you can see down into the blind just from standing on the ground, you are way to exposed. But he knows everything...

I've got that one on sale for same price. And two of the cabelas ultimates. I prefer the ultimate. It's a little higher profile but so much more comfortable. I'll use the other one if the brush isn't as tall

The top of the blind isnt covered at all. We have been having to lay our blind bags around the perimeter and then layer long levee grass over the top and make them droop over the top of the blind.

Not sure where we would move. Layout blinds in the middle arent an option because it is solid dirt/mud. Im open to ideas because I have never hunted such a poor situation before and we are all pretty fed up with it.
