My 15 year old does this all the time. Some group called Rooster teeth. Watches YouTube commentaries.
I think they are totally making fun of Lorde at this point.

Obviously Breesus and Arkanstone like myself are South Park Fans who enjoy some of their great episodes in the shows history and watch hoping to catch those great moments.
There is an appreciation for what Matt Stone and Trey Parker are capable of...when they are on point there is not a better comedic show on television.
George Clooney once voiced a dog just to get affiliation with South Park.
as fans who have most likely watched 18 years of South Park they are entitled to not like every single episode...some of you need to hop of that D. Calling out the writers would make them raise their own standards for a successful show and improve the overall content(the very thing they are commenting and joking about in this episode about the general population and what makes pop culture money now).
Disliking the episodes or this season is one thing, but telling us about it and shitting all over the threads every few hours is another.
And FWIW, I don't think this is one of their stronger seasons maybe, but it's still been pretty damn good IMO and I've enjoyed every episode at least a little bit. And I find it hard to believe that someone who has been a fan since the beginning (like me...started watching since the first episode in 1997) can't find something funny in the episodes this season. If you consider yourself a "South Park fan" then you should at least be laughing several times each week based simply on your love of the show (things like Cartman talking, Kenny, Butters, Randy, homages within the show, etc.).
I mean take last night for example...the white dude telling Tupac "Yo." Or the Terminator music when they were calling up the Tupac hologram because they needed to use him to find/take out the MJ hologram. MJ and his "allegedly" shite. Cartmanbrah (though that eventually got old admittedly...even though that was the point). Wendy Williams bitching that people are famous solely because their fans blindly applaud everything they say behind a microphone (and that's how she is famous). Sharon fricking the Tupac hologram. Simply seeing Randy dressed up as Lorde. Iggy Azalean's arse. Clit rubbing. Etc.
And I know to each his own and all that, but at least some of that shite should've made you chuckle/laugh if you consider yourself a SP fan. If not, it could be that you're expecting too much and going into each episode expecting to hate it.

Don't forget the lyrics to Miley Cyrus's song she was singing, that shite was hilarious.

My 12-year old stepdaughter does, too. She watches the Minecraft ones. She will literally spend hours if you let her. I have to force her to turn it off.

A friend of mine's little brother does this as well. I think he's about 9 or so. But if you let him, he'd spend hours in front of the computer watching Minecraft videos on youtube. It's weird.

Well said Coco
I've been watching the show since 1997 and literally grew up with the gang. Even if I'm not feeling the plot it's always due for some laughs. I could watch it on mute and laugh at some of the animation.

quote:Funny cause in the "Magic Bush" thread you said shite like:
Dude this season is miserable. It's become a chore to sit through a South Park episode. It's like watching a child hood friend die a slow death of cancer.
quote:
Cartman and Eric classic episode going on right now.
I knew they'd kill it eventually. Trey Parker is a genius.
Praying the end stays at this level
quote:
Good god this is fantastic
quote:
That was absolutely fantastic
The exact type of episode I was hoping for.
Keep trolling South Park threads though

Because Trey Parker reads these threads?
Personally, though I've enjoyed the season, I think the show has become an ad for video games. It has been for a while now, from the Wii episode to Kenny and the PSP episode to the console wars trilogy last year to half the episodes this season. The ads that run during the breaks are for video games, snack food and Buzz colas, so they're obviously selling to this demographic.
The only episode this season that I thought was really weak was cock magic. Yes, Randy was funny for the pure lowbrow value of it, but the episode seemed to be a strained effort to create a story around Magic the Gathering, the most popular board game in the world.
This show and Tarantino movies are pretty much the last remnants of my youthful, 90's Gen X coolness, but if all they're interested in doing in selling people video games, they may as well hang it up.
Fwiw, I think Trey Parker is one of the most brilliant comedy writers in television history, but product placement is a box in which no real artist can truly thrive, and in which a satirist is effectively betraying his own efforts.

My son watches those Minecraft ones also. I guess I watched a lot of TV and played games when I was his age.

quote:I agree with this. It seems like for the last few years, they just go "hmm, what are the kids up to these days?" And then fit a show around it. But some of my favorite episodes are like that. I've always said, it just boils down to what makes me laugh.

I'm not saying that they just look for what is cool. I think they actually get paid to do this. Product placement is worth a fortune.
But I agree. None of that really matters to me if the episodes are funny. I still think it's very artistically constraining, though.

Yep. That is the thread I was thinking of.

Some of y'all should look into smoking some funny tobacco and loosening up a little

the guy even says "its become a chore for me to watch it" well at that point just quit fricking watching it. If you're getting little to no enjoyment from it, then what's the purpose?
