Shooting of Yoshiro Hattori
Not looking for gun control debate, and I feel sorry for all concerned. But I'm curious. How did Peairs end up in all of this? I read he got a large civil judgement against him. Anybody know?

Nothing on the criminal side, but got hit for $1 million on the civil side, homeowners maxed at $100k and he is on the hook for the other 900k, I have heard he has lost everything and possibly divorced, basically his life is in shambles
ETA: after reading the above link, it looks like the civil judgement was 650K

I was told two years ago that as part of the civil judgment his finances are reviewed by the court every five years, any money or assets he has are given to the family of the deceased, and this will continue until the judgment is satisfied. Because of this he lives in a mobile home owned by a relative, and works mostly odd jobs where he can be paid in cash.

He has to pay annual dues to the victims family. isn't his wife to blame? She overacted...
