It took 15 weeks for our staff to run the read-option.

They finally decided to let our spread QB run the offense he was used to and the kid looked like a pretty good QB. Hopefully they're finally seeing that a fundamental change is needed if you're going to keep recruiting spread QBs.

In all fairness, this was the pathetic Aggy defense we're talking about here. It wouldn't work as well against a real defense.

Not saying we shouldn't have been running it more all season, but the reason it was so effective yesterday is bc AM is terrible and wasn't expecting it. In the second half they started to adjust and the play slowed down considerably. Jennings is a mediocre to poor runner and he only makes the right read like half the time.

It's tough to run. It generally takes high school offenses at least a week to master.

We have been running the read option all year. Try to pay attention.

FYI, we have run it all season. i just worked well last night.

I think the jet sweep was the wrinkle that made it effective.

With how effective we can be running the ball inside, we should have been running the read-option all season. I also really liked the jet sweeps. We can't really pass, that's a given. The thing about the read-option and the jet sweep is they forces the D to respect us laterally. Against Ar-Kansas they were crashing inside almost every play. Once the D has to respect the outside run, huge holes open up inside. If we could just force teams to play us honest, we could run inside at will. This is just basic stuff. It's really disappointing it took this long to finally start running this way.

Was that really "read" option or predetermined runs?

I can't see that Jennings is reading anything. He doesn't appear to be.

wow, a complete offensive scheme change in 15 weeks using a frosh/soph (kinda like high school) vs the strongest cfb division in history.
i guess it should have been ready the first week?

While Jennings looked better, he still cannot pass very well. You can't make me believe that LSU doesn't have someone who can throw better than what we saw all year with Jennings. Our passing offense was one of the worst I have ever seen.
