360 has many many more games for a 10 year old.

So does the N64, but he probably wouldn't appreciate it.
He wants the latest system. The 360 is being phased out. My 360 is 5 years old. In 5 years his son will be 15. Do you think he'll still want the 360 then?

IMO as a father I suggest geiing him a 360, he's getting older but still ONLY 10.
There is a much broader library (8years worth) of games to choose from that will fit his tastes incomparison to the much few games on the xbox one.
You can see about getting him an Xbox one in a few years. Why choose minute specs that he wont even notice over a more vast library of games that fit his tastes?

Do you really think a 10 year old will see the negligible differences?
How many games do you think the one has that appeal to a 10 year old?

Yes get the One, it is the one that comes in black

Dude, when I was 10 I read Nintendo Power everyday and only cared about the latest and greatest games.
Sure, your argument is logical, but kids don't think that way. They don't care about old games.
He won't be 10 forever. Look at the new Xbox as a system that can grow with him. He will want to play the new call of duty and so on.
Also I suspect that many of the older 360 games will eventually be available for digital download. Therefore I think it would be a poor investment to buy an outdated system that he'll be begging for you to upgrade next year.

The xbone is still fairly new. The 360 is like 8 years old, of course it has more games now. The xbone will catch up. Kids don't want to play old games, especially when all their friends are playing the new ones.

When he asked for xbox, he meant xbox one. He knows the difference. His friends would make fun of him if you got him a 360... Don't be such a gump!

He should build his son a PC if he wants the best for his kid, amirite?
Posted on 11/21/14 at 10:53 pm to SaintLSUnAtl
Build a $4000 PC or bust, he'll know the difference. Please don't let his friends down.

If you get the 360 you will have to get him an xbox one next year.

IMHO this is correct
I traded in my sons' (11 and 7) Xbox 360 for a PS4. they liked it for about a week and then wanted their 360 back. It is all about the library of games. I believe Xbox is going to support 360 through 2016. Just keep in mind that if you do go with 360 you will probably need to get a Xbox One in about 2-3 years
Oh, and by the way. I put the PS4 in the living room for me and got them another 360

Xbox One is a better long term investment. If you get him a 360, sure there's more games now, but in 2 years all of his friends will have an Xbox One and you'll end up having to get him one anyway.

You can't just buy your son's love. Go outside and spend some time with him throwing ball or fishing.

The difference is they already had the 360 and likely wanted to go back and play some of their old games. They couldn't do that because you TRADED IT IN.
It sounds like the OP has neither. This is why the Xbox One makes more sense in his situation.

Get the One. The 360 is at the very end of its generational cycle and the One is just starting its.

Probably not. Just go ahead and get the 360
I was a hardcore gamer by age 10 and I would know the difference and would've felt that my parents took the cheap way out.
Pop for the extra $100. You'll end up spending less money in the long term because he's going to want a Xbone eventually when all of his friends have one.

Right now the graphic differences are not negligible. It's as close as it'll ever be but anyone can see the difference.
In a year, when the game developers start to truly harness the new technology the difference will be much more pronounced. Might as well get the Xbone now and avoid doing this all over again next year.

Honestly if I were you I'd go to best buy and ask for the new omega gamecast... More bang for the buck and it'll last a lot longer.. Plus he can still play COD
