Nor in the late 1800, 1930, 1950, etc
All these people who came to America in our parents / grandparents / great-grandparents era didn't expect shite when they got here.
Now we have these assholes who expect us to just give them free shite when they get here.
The EXPECT it because our leaders allow this shite to happen.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Central Americans that risk their lives are not expecting to mooch off the state. Their idea is to get to the US, get a job in order to send money back to their families in Central America. Most of them have no idea about welfare programs nor how to use them, its ridiculous to think that is what they are hoping for.
Just to be clear, they want money to send back to their wives, kids, family etc. Just look at the numbers in economies like Honduras, El Salvador, a big part is "divisas" or money sent from the US by immigrants.
Now I agree that welfare should not be given to arriving immigrants, let them prove they are productive before anything is given for free.

10 year old children can't get jobs in the US. They are anchor babies. Mom and Dad will come later and vote Democrat for the rest of their lives.

Some want to work but it's naive to think that once they learn of welfare, many won't opt for that route. How many first generation immigrants are on assistance now?

"Most of them have no idea about welfare programs.." Do you not understand that there are immigration activists in all the immigration hot spots who are doing just that? There are classes explaining just how to get this or that Fed/state benefit. You are wayyy wrong on that claim. They know fairly soon how to use the system. Who do you think filed the first law suits against the State of La. for not having enough bi lingual teaches in its school systems, forcing financially strapped school systems to spend even more money. A clue: Not the families back home.
