That being the case, it could be deduced that although points eared is important, the defensive strength of LSU has dictated the overall success of the team.
No graph needed to know that

I think you should remove the OOC games, excluding of course season openers against the power conferences and bowl games. It should tell you more about the games we play against the same - or similar - talent.

You say that but, the first thing most ranters want to blame after a loss is offense and thus Les/QB/playcalling.

Even when there was a noticeable drop off in offensive production or a rise in production yet the defense remained stable so did the win efficiency.

Granted, no part of the game is completely isolated from another but drop-offs in defense results in lost games.

I don't think most people understand what "cumulative" means, so they see consistency. But the truth is there is a steady decline since 2011. Look no farther than the SEC records.

2011: 8-0
2012: 6-2
2013: 5-3
2014: 3-4 with one game to play.

Print out the graph.

Spray the back of your printout with some spray adhesive.

Paste the graph to a piece of plywood.

Cut with a jigsaw along the jagged lines.

Scratch your arse with the cut outs.

What conclusions, if any, can you draw from this?

You have too much time on your hands.

the graph would be a lot easier to read if you removed the wasted space between seasons

I would also like to see the PPG for (green) and against (red) pictured similar to the way you did the cumulative and PPG against. (I know you may not have intentionally merged the latter, but the contrast might give some viewers another look).

The decline roughly correlates to the last of Saban's players leaving.
