So how does that work when facing a hurry-up offense? Chavis (in the booth) communicates to Miles and then Miles to the defensive captain? Seems like the play would be over before the captain got the signal--if Miles had to approve.

seems like you're confusing "having say" with calling plays. Miles doesn't call plays on offense or defense.

im getting tired of explaining how football works on this board

Depends on what your expectations are. I thought LSU was a easily a legit top 10 program after 2007.

WE ARE! SMH
IF any of u whiners want to go back and do the research u will see just how good a program we have been since 07.
List the 10 schools that have done better?
Just because LSU doesnt win 11 games every year and doesnt finish in the top 10 every yr doesnt mean they arent a top 10 program. Unless of course, there are 10 other schools that do this each year. Where are they? Who are they?

Its not about being satisfied with mediocrity its about reality. Some of u think LSU should never lose a game and no one else has scholarship players or good coaches. Hows your dept doing at your profession, 1O straight record years?

So for all u "fire the coach" fans. The ones that think the realists are so satisfied with having a top 10 program that we are ok with losing 3-4 games every 8-10 years...........

Why do u think LSU is entitled to win the Championship each yr?
Why do u guys think LSU should be great every year but not Georgia,Florida or Texas?
Is LSU entitled to this because the school is on an ancient burial ground or can the school think for itself?
Sometimes things just dont come together or u can't get a call from an official against your nemesis. shite Happens look at your own job or life. We have had poor QB play! We are lucky to have won as much as we have this year. See how well the great Gary Patterson did last yr in a very similar circumstance.

In that year, the SEC East was a joke and outside of the top 3, the SEC West was a joke.

Nothing like making stuff up. In 2011, the SEC played in 7 bowl games besides the title game, and lost a whopping 2 games. I guess the entire country was a joke them.

The SEC also had OOC wins over 2 BCS bowl champions.

Dude, it sucks that Alabama is a dynasty and never has a down year. Get over it. Outside of them, everyone has had terrible seasons (Auburn has had 2 losing seasons). LSU has stayed above the losing season that has plagued everyone else.

LSU isn't a dynasty, but we've been well above average every season for 15 years now. Very few schools, including all of the greats, can say that.

We have to keep fighting, improving facilities, increasing the recruiting budget and staff, etc. IMO, the goal of the LSU football program should be to be a Top 10 program nationally.

I think LSU is positioned to be that program, just has underperformed.

Miles has just as much say in the defense as the offense

He may have as much right to control them both, but he certainly seems to exercise that control more with the offense. If he's actually exercising the same amount of control over both, then one has to wonder why a coach who has spent his entire career as a player and coach on the offensive side of the ball is so spectacularly better at defense than he is at offense. I seriously doubt that he is, and I doubt that you think he is, either.

Blowouts - that is where the real problem is right now. We were not even in the game on 3 games.
I would not be slightly surprised if AtM beats us big either. Last week was bad - really not what you expect at the end of the season when a team had all year to adjust and improve.

It's not just a matter of not doing it every year. It's a matter of only doing it twice in seven years.

Only one team has done it every year for the last seven. Two others have done it every year but one. At least 11 teams (I stopped counting after I found 11) have done it more times than LSU. We have done it twice.

Teams with three or more top 10 finishes from 2008-2014 (current week's rankings used for 2014):

1. Alabama 7 (2008-2014)
2. Oregon 6 (2008, 2010-2014)
3. Ohio State 6 (2008-2010, 2012-2014)
4. TCU 4 (2008-2010, 2014)
5. Stanford 4 (2010-2013)
6. Oklahoma 3 (2008, 2010, 2013)
7. Michigan State 3 (2011, 2013, 2014)
8. Georgia 3 (2008, 2012, 2014)
9. South Carolina 3 (2011-2013)
10. Boise St. 3 (2009-2011)
11. Florida 3 (2008, 2009, 2012)

Why don't you do it for Miles full tenure instead of the arbitrary 7 years?

Your comparison should be RANKED versus UNRANKED seasons. We finished 2010-2011-2012-2013 as a ranked team. We could still finish this season ranked, that reamains to be decided.

Because I was responding to this post:

I didn't set the time frame. I was replying to someone else who did. As in the other thread you jumped into, it's best to go ahead and actually read the posts before spouting off.

Meh, all the other whiners have been using arbitrary time frames, sorry I didn't give you the benefit of the doubt. My bad.

You're one of the biggest morons on this board so yes you should stop trying to explain.

Miles is an idiot. That is a fact. Stop sniffing his sweat suit.
