Once Ohio State jumps TCU and Baylor for the final spot in the playoff, the committee will be sending a clear message to the Big 12 that they are not on the same level playing field as the other P5 conference by not having a conference championship game. I said this about a month ago and i'll say it again, the Big 12 will actually be 12 and maybe even 14 teams again very very soon. From the very beginning the selection committee said they will value a conference championship. That should have been a clear warining sign to the Big 12. Add a combination of BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado St or Boise St...add a title game and this wont happen.

The committee has made it clear that the Big 12 is a better conference than the Big 10.

They shouldn't penalize the B12 teams for being in a 10 team conference. If Baylor drops a game, TCU is the outright conference champ, and the committee likes TCU's resume better...they should take TCU. I think a conference champ who played everyone is in some ways better than a 14 team conference champ who may have benefited by lucky schedule rotation. But, I would have no problem with OSU being in over Moo St., if Moo St. doesn't win the conference. That is going to be a heck of a fight -- I already see a thread on the Rant that ESPN is pushing OSU.

you will still have a conference champion even without a championship game. The Big 12 will have a conference champ, based on record and any tie breakers after that.

I do not think the committee meant it would value conference championship games, just that in comparing two equal resumes but one team is the champion of its conference (with or without a CCG) it will get the bump above a team that did not win its conference.

What is the fricking point of having a championship game if all teams already play eachother

If anything the 14 team 8 game conference scheudle is bullshite because the good teams have a good chance of dodging each other and each team in conference will average 4 losses instead of 4.5 in the 9 game round robin.

Mississippi State got to play Vandy/Kentucky and dodged Mizzou/Georgia.

Ohio State didn't have to play Nebraska or Wisconsin.
