Dude if they have a championship game, they would reduce the number of conference games to 8. So it's just a matter of the league anticipating who will be at the top of the conference and scheduling those games accordingly. OU-OSU will always be that weekend and Baylor-K State could have been a de facto CCG had K State beaten TCU.

Every other major conference has one 
When Baylor and TCU win out, and the Big 12 is left out of the playoff, they'll be begging two more teams to join the conference so they can have one.
