Going camping and looking for some good ideas. I use a Dutch oven and a grill grate.

Fajitas, chili, onions and potatoes, and beef stew.

Camping with kids, adults or both?

Both kids and adults. Planning on hamburgers and hot dogs, steaks and potatoes, maybe a chili or gumbo. I also do breakfast burritos for breakfast. Just looking for suggestions. I have a Coleman stove I could use but prefer to just cook with the fire.

Often I will cook the meal before hand and just heat it up at camp. Seems like cooking is easier at hone for me.

Now I've gone camp and be the camp dog and cook and shyt. The older I get the more that appeals to me. Let the youngens have their fun and cater for them, sorta.

agree, Gt, it'll come.

I like to get a pork butt, slather it with mustard, apply tonys. cut up onions all over it. Cover with aluminum foil. cook.
wrap potatoes in foil and throw in the fire.
when its done everyone gets a potato, mushes it it, and dumps meat and juice over the top.
very few ingredients for packing, simple recipe, and everyone gets stuffed and sleeps good.

Pork steaks, pack of brown gravy mixed with water, can of cream of mushroom soup and cut potatoes on top

Can literally cook anything on a fire . I'd suggest a rice and gravy or catfish courtbilllon

Man, if you've got young kids with you, cut some thin branches and let them cook hot dogs, at least for one lunch or dinner.
Even the crappiest, cheapest hot dogs taste decent grilled over an open fire.
