First, hope your trip up is a safe one.
Now, let's talk about the weather and our roads.
Here is my advice for those of you who do not know our area very well...
1. Normally, I49 south of Fayetteville is very, very dangerous during winter weather. The area around the tunnel is a most dangerous point.
2. I would advise parking south of the stadium and near MLK. Our roads are very hilly, but MLK is flat and is a major 4 lane street that will be treated and likely have some sort of plows or sand on it.
3. If you decide to park north or the stadium on campus, understand you will encounter hills. Please know that the use of your breaks in one fail swoop is not recommended. Gently tap the breaks several times. You WILL encounter large hills on the north side. Two wheel drive or just rear wheel drive will not cut it.
4. We will treat our roads...We get this stuff quite a few times during the winter, but the first round of winter precip always, always sucks.
5. Also, understand when on I49, we have quite a few idiots here working for Fortune 500 companies that believe they're invincible on the roads. Yes, they'll drive 100 mph on the freeway. DO NOT FOLLOW THEIR LEAD. You'll encounter them a few miles up in the ditch. Proceed to laugh and point at them as you pass. They'll likely have New York, Illinois, etc. plates on their vehicles.
6. Stay off of small roads. These will not be treated like main roads. Roads that should have good treatment: MLK, WEDINGTON, COLLEGE, DICKSON, GARLND. Stay on those and route accordingly if possible.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS: I49 coming north from I40 is dangerous. I don't want to see any news stories of accidents. Many parts of I49 are simply bridges at high heights. Those concrete barricades aren't going to stop a car from falling hundreds of feet.
If it's ice before snow, please be careful. Extend your hotel stay and stay safe. If doing traveling, please keep a blanket, flashlight, and batteries in your vehicles.

question, is uber relevant in Fayetteville? Are cabs readily available?
Posted on 11/13/14 at 10:23 am to Hawgeye
Not going, but wanted to thank you for the post!
A good friend of mine and his lady are coming to the house for the game. I am feeding him well with spicey cajun cuisine. He lives in Arky and is a great guy. We will be there in spirit!
Good luck but not enough to beat us!! Safe driving yourself!

It's trying to be. Not enough drivers to support the demand. Worth a shot to try but I wouldn't depend on it.

what about cabs?
Will you pick me and my friends up? K thanks

You can get cabs easier for sure. I always try uber for 5 minutes before I call a cab. You have to just know when it's going to be busy then order one 15 minutes before that point and you'll get one.
And it depends where you are staying. Saturday shouldn't be bad for traffic honestly. I know a lot of people will not tailgate and will show up right before the game go in. These are people who tailgate at every game too. Screw this weather.

When is the snow supposed to start? Everything I've read is Saturday pm.

Saturday pm is about what they are saying up here as well.

Thanks. Coming down from nw Iowa. When this trip was planned I was not really expecting to leave Iowa and run into snow!

I'm guessing Gregg Avenue and College heading north after the game will be fine?

Heading out of KC tomorrow- we should beat the snow that should arrive here on Saturday- GEAUX!
