Insecurity about not being in a frat? Wtf?

You probably had to eat the biscuit, didn't you?

FYI Dan Bilzerian was tweeting about him yesterday, so some of you DB haters probably want to get off this guys bandwagon.

When I was in school we had a second team defensive lineman pledge one year, and a marine pledge another year.

We had a slightly older combat vet who went through pledgeship with me.

He got it like the rest of us, but he was probably the favorite and was pretty unflappable.

very commonplace after WWII, I was looking through my mother's college yearbook the other day and just about every guy at the school , every fratstar, every jock, musician, everyone had just returned from the war, they just want to resume their lives I guess, dude probably won't wear his MoH around the house, but I'll bet he gets a lot of requests from his brothers to borrow it

One of my pledge brothers in college was Nat'l Guard who'd served a combat tour in Iraq and had been through a ton of shite and lost a few friends in battle. I don't think he got much crap because people realized how stupid fraternity stuff is in the grand scheme of things.

you'd be surprised at how many military people, career officers, general staff, admirals, etc., were frat guys, it's part of their life

It's different if you're doing it before you ever see combat or if -- as with returning WWII GIs -- most of your peers share your experience.

It's just that the brotherhood aspect seems like it rings hollow coming from a preppy fratter who's always known the comfort of daddy's credit card if you've seen people die and been in battle. And I say that as a fraternity alum.

I'm sure the guys just want some normalcy, as I posted earlier, all the frats in my mom's yearbook were filled up with returning WWII vets, I'm sure it wasn't confined to just her college, lot's of guys I know from the military were preppy fratters that went to war and caused death and destruction and came back and still hang around their frat brothers, don't feel guilty

Just a side note...

My very close friend is his academic advisor at the University. She said he is one of the most humble, polite, and genuinely nice people she has every had the opportunity to work with. Also, he gave her his watch as a token of thanks for helping him through the academic process etc.

he'll never make it in the frat, jk, I can see that, I also see that in every former VN POW that I know, very humble, grateful, even keeled, and they do not sweat the small stuff

It's not about balls, its about respect. If you as a college student, frat or not, don't understand where you stand in the social hierarchy in relation to someone who has won a medal of honor risking his life to save others... You are more ignorant those Tech students that can't tell who won the Civil War or who the vice president is.

Fraternities will be lining up to hand this guy a bid and if they don't then they aren't looking out for their fraternity.

Pledged in 03 so a little over 10 years but my dad and I have had this conversation. He tells me I was "hazed" harder than he was in the late 70's. He was SAE at LSU.

Your dad has Alzheimer's. Put him in a home.

I was in a frat at LSU in the late '70's. We didn't have any hardcore hazing.
