Within a parish, the law enforcement is handled by the Sheriff who is the chief officer of the entire parish including the municipalities.

I drove it a good bit a few years ago. Was my HWY 20 Ride so to speak. You get used to it but yes it is a bit obvious what they are doing and it's NOT protecting and serving.

I grew up just south of there, yes they are notorious for anyone that drives through there regularly. That is how the town gets its revenue I think, no local sales taxes.
