You can't really blame White for wanting to contain the reverse lateral 30 yards down the field. It's an important mistake defenses seem to make a lot. On serious note, i'd really like to know if I should be mad at white more than the safety.

I could be wrong here, but I felt that White played it right. He went with the midrange receiver who was cutting over the middle. There was a much greater chance that Kapernick was going to throw to him if he were open. He knew he had safety help.

What was Vaccaro doing? He was in the middle of the field not near anyone with Crabtree running by himself 25 yards away. If he had even gone in his direction he would have intercepted or batted down the ball.

You can blame White, but I think that Vaccarro got lost.

Obviously we do not know what play was called, but it looks like you are right in that White came up to cover Davis as he leaked out over the middle. But, when he saw the Safety (I didn't see the number, but many are pointing to Vaccaro) he sprinted back to Crabtree.

I'd imagine the Safety should have deep coverage and should have been backing up to Crabtree; however, what was the coverage called that let Davis leak out so deep. Was a LBer suppose to be underneath? Did another DB have coverage on him underneath and let him go upfield? If so, where were they, in a zone defense aren't they suppose to keep getting depth if no one is in front of them, or is that more of a recreational/HS thing?

We only rushed 4 and had 7 people to cover 5.

I haven't seen the all 22 shot so I don't know. On the replay it looked like the DLineman pulled off thinking Kapernick was going to run out of bounds or he was scared to hit him and get a roughing the passer call. White pulled off Crabtree Vacarro went to the other side of the field, and I don't think Keenan was on the field on that play. It was a breakdown. It shouldn't have happened. Definitely not for 51 yards, but this has been happening to the defense all season. Yes, they have improved pretty significantly, but 4 losses from defensive breakdowns in the last 2 minutes or less is bad news
