I think we want to run more of a new age pro style system. I think we want to be able to line up in shotgun more often, and i think we want to add some read option plays.

Think Seahawks, but more under center.

Absolutely. There offense is exactly what we want to run IMO. I wanted to post that earlier in the year (when they were undefeated) but figured I'd just get a bunch of dumbasses saying "you are comparing us to the best team in the NFL?!?!?"

I can agree with that, but LSU obviously isn't there yet. Part of being a good coach is putting your players in the best position to utilize their skillset. Even if it isn't necessarily your usual "style". LSU doesn't do that. They have a system in place and will try to make guys "fit" within that system.

Gary Patterson (a defensive coach) talked about needing to change his offense to adapt to his players and the Big 12. He did it. In one year he has taken a pretty bad QB in Boykin and made him a Heisman contender all because they switched to an offense that fit him better.

Saban has even moved away from what he usually likes to do. LSU continues their usual ineffective system. Every coach in the SEC knows it. The Miss. St. DC said as much when comparing LSU to Ark. His comment was that Ark., even though a power running team, has deception in the way they go about. With LSU "you know exactly what they're going to do."

Against the 4 best teams on the schedule this year LSU has managed the following

MSU - 3 points (until late when MSU was trying to run out the clock)
AU - 7 points
OM - 10 points
Bama - 13 points (including one drive that started at Bama's 7 yardline)

It's sickening to watch the defense COMPLETELY turn things around, while LSU's offensive approach continues to stay stuck in the mud.
