I took it after the 4 years working. It'll certainly be tougher to take if without the working experience, but you have nothing to lose but time and money, so go for it.

Well, you are limited to how many times to can take the exam now. So I say make the most out of every opportunity

I wonder if it's discipline-dependent. I know for transportation, I didn't need 4 years experience after passing the FE to take the PE. The only 4 years of experience I needed was my college curriculum.
