If it's ascension, good luck with that. They weren't letting people out for anything. Tied us up for 2 days. Better bring a book. A long one. No cell phone.

How is the selection process? What can I do to get myself automatically disqualified?
I used to work with a guy whose mother-in-law said that anybody arrested for a crime had to be guilty because the police don't arrest innocent people. She almost caused a mistrial.
You could go the other route and say that the criminal justice system is set up by the man as a means of keeping the people down.

I was on a jury recently ... they never took our cell phones and never mentioned anything about them. Had it with me the whole time.
After the initial people were selected, anyone who "had a reason" that they couldn't serve could go up and tell the judge what it was. One dude had dyslexia and he was excused -- one dude has physical issues and couldn't sit for a long time and the judge excused him -- a couple met the criteria of being over a certain age and were eligible to serve but opted not to -- one woman was excused due to it being the anniversary of her son's death or something like that (I swear -- she gets up to say why she can't and BUSTS out in TEARS LOUDLY sobbing so the judge called her to the bench -- others had to speak into the microphone -- couldn't hear what was said but she was escorted out through the back door).
eta: One dude (50ish or so) said he couldn't read and write ... which I felt terrible for him to have to admit that out loud but 1) how does it affect your ability to listen and discuss and 2) how does that happen in this day and age??? I'm 45 and can't imagine that!

CE they didn't even take them then ... never asked who had one or to hand them over.

To,not get selected just find a way to look biased.
If the case is a rape case you have a close family member that was raped. If the range of punishment is too narrow you, don't feel it is harsh enough. Stuff like that.
And there's always jury nullification.

Join the military and you never have to do it

The average American:
Bitches about every outlandish jury verdict reported by the press.
Gets called for jury duty. "How do I get out of this?"
'Merica.

Wear an Alabama shirt and hat, and then breathe through your mouth real loud the whole time.

Every time this comes up I say the same thing. You WANT to get picked so you can get it over with and get out of there.
All this other BS about not being chosen doesn't mean you are going home. It just tosses you back into the jury pool.
Want to keep coming back for two weeks? Play your games.
Want to go home today? Get picked and get it over with.

my jury selection was kind of weird. by the time i went up (third pool) they only needed 2 more jurors. i kept quiet and kept answers short thinking theres no way im getting picked out of this group and boom they replaced 4 of the guys already selected with myself and 6 others.
was pissed at first but after serving on the jury it was a cool experience. plus got to convict some pos child molester to life in prison

Sorry, but no, I was asked if I had a family member, or close friend that was a victim of a violent crime, answered yes, and was still selected for a murder trial.
