The Jilted Lover Syndrome around here is pathetic.

Yeah, I agree.

It's like some people are in a state of conceded rationalization about Saban at this point -- meaning -- they've conceded that he's the best, so now they have to rationalize (reach/exaggerate/fabricate etc.) why he's a bad person.

As for Doucet's story, I don't take much of anything from it. Saban would possibly have a different account of what happened. Also, regarding this part:

quote:

"That's okay," Saban deadpanned

Saban's humor is typically deadpan/dry. It sounds to me like this was Saban's way of making light of the situation. This part especially sounds like Saban's brand of deadpan humor:

quote:

"I tell you what guys (oh no). If we COACH, the way you guys PARK, we're not going to win a game this year," Saban declared.

I should have said -- I agree to the extent that we're just talking about idiosyncrasies. I think there's a baseline of decency that matters in terms of treating people with dignity/respect/honesty, etc. -- and I think Saban is fine in this area, despite the negative caricature many people want to try to portray him as.

a good coach has to have many of the qualities that NS has, a big ego, but tempered with logic and intelligence. Our present coach has one of these qualities.

I don't think it's well said at all. What's the basis for this notion that Miles cares more about people than Saban does?

It's just another example of people trying to rationalize that Miles is somehow a better person to compensate for the losing. It's an empty, overcompensating rationalization.

We could be walking around with at least 2, if not 4, more crystals if Saban had stayed.
Just be Glad we got 2 in the last 10+ years .....

Highly doubt that

Sabin won 1 legit crystal at bama
Other 2 gift wrapped by sec officials in 2009 which gave them 2 wins that shoulda been losses and then 2011 when media made unprecedented move to get a rematch even tho okla state deserved it

Ok so I did not get past this post...

How you treat people says a lot about your character. And a decade from now games/championships will be noise and your character will be all that matters!

So if saban stayed, he never would have won another championship at LSU? Sure - the guy takes over a POS program at AL, wins 3 of them and blows right past LSU

I was working at Big Ten media day in Chicago in the late 90s. All of the Big Ten head coaches were assembling for a group picture. Every coach but Nick. He finally arrives 15 minutes late. Paterno says to Saban loud enough for quite a few people to hear, "Do you try to be an a-hole?"

So the 2003 NC is just noise to you since the head coach was probably an arse?

Our current coach wins games and championships. Why can't we have it both ways?

Look saban is a great coach, but so is Les. Bama needed a lil luck to win theirs as well. If we can beat them on Saturday, then the only thing standing between them is s mulligan.

Baha our all time record is lopsided. Bama has always been better than LSU. They have like 20 something titles. Shula had them on the brink of a sec west title. Injuries to prothro and broyle really fricked him over. If it wasn't for an ot loss to Miles. Shula would have been in ATL.
L
You guys are just as insane. I think saban is great, but you guys act like Les is some loser. Well he is Loyal to the program and is the winningst coach in our history. So if he's so bad, then all the ones before him must have sucked. les coached when the sec won 7 straight national titles and he has coached and beat all of those teams and coaches.

We got lucky to have a chance in 07 to.

Both are great coaches. I love Miles and I'm glad he is our HC, but Saban is the best coach in college right now.

because winning championships is NOT all that really matters in college. this "noise" you refer to is damn important; graduating players, esp the non NFL guys, building character, representing LSU, a university, with class and dignity and running an honest program.

if you are not an LSU student or graduate I understand that LSU is your "professional" team, but to me and many other alum LSU is our alma mater's team. big difference.

saban should be in the pro's if winning at all costs is all that matters. oh, now I remember, he failed in the pro's.
