About Drew Brees, etc, etc,

Yeah, the subject has been beaten to death. But watching the game last night, it's apparent to me that alleged loss of arm strength argument is more bullshite than I thought. At least it's wildly overstated. He threw a couple of ropes on out patterns last night that were terrific (and more of an indication of arm strength than a long bomb).
He's tried forcing the ball too much this year. But his arm strength is fine.

The guy is getting older. As sometimes humans tend to do. It's not some wierd outlandish criticism to say no older guy with fricked up muscles in his throwing motion and a rebuilt surgical shoulder might have lost a little mustard.

we'll never win cause of his contract. " "

I think his injury was more hindering than anyone let on. Seems like out of the bye, his accuracy and velocity started improving. His timing is also getting better. Between his injuries physical effect as well as missing most of training camp, a slow start is understandable. Looks to be clicking now and hopefully he gets pack to his typical standard. This team gets better each week which is bad news for the rest of the NFL.

Fair enough. But the impact on performance has been grossly overstated, imo.

I think people forget that he hurt himself in training camp and that it probably affected his throws, especially considering that it was a core issue. I am willing to bet that he was still hurting up until the bye week.

I think you're 100% correct. Brees better stop trying to force the ball or we're in deep shite. Our defense isn't good enough to consistently get turnovers back. It's almost like he has no confidence in the defense so he's taking unwarranted risk to get points and we get our asses busted. We're 27th in the league in Give/Take ratio this year and that won't get you very far.

Yes, he's lost arm strength.
But this "noodle arm" business is straight bullshite.

Brees' biggest asset is his biggest weakness. He's very competitive and puts the weight of the team on his shoulders, which more times than not has worked out in his and the Saints' favor. This is what makes a QB a game-changer.
When he has time in the pocket to make the plays, not giving up on the play as the QB is a huge, HUGE benefit. When you are getting pressured, that same mentality means you hold on the ball too long and make mistakes. Only problem is, if he just threw it away every time he had pressure we would have a much worse record than we do now.
As far as him throwing the ball with no power, it's the most consistently-trumped up, nonsensical thing thrown around on this board. Brees' footwork in the pocket is superb. I'd argue that his footwork is so good because he is so disciplined and methodical in everything he does. Good footwork is the foundation for a good throw. He has been running for his life all year, which in turn impacts his throwing accuracy and the power of the throw. Even last night the line was suspect. I argue that if the line continues to improve there are very few teams in the NFL who can beat us.

Brees is older. That's the way it is.
The Saints problem is that the test of the team usually can't pick up the slack if Brees makes a bad decision or has a bad play. We, and many other teams, are only as good as our QB. For the most part.

The 50 yard TD pass between 2 defenders that was spot on this past Sunday provided all the proof I needed.
The oblique tear was a lot more hindering than anyone let on.
