In any event, I've seen you run on about the Dwight Effect countless times. Now that that was exposed as not indicating quality, you have chosen other metrics. Makes me suspect you are cherry picking stats to fit your desired conclusion.
Defensive win shares
Defensive rating
Defensive rebounding %
Opponent FG%
Opponent point per shot
are just another piece. When you take them all into consideration you get an accurate picture. I'm not interested in laying out the whole argument every time it comes up I figured you guys already knew about D12s awards, stats, etc, and I wanted to present to the board something a little more advanced.

Or you can let the homers be happy about their team and shite talk others in PT. Now if its MSB, sure go ahead.

You guys need to stop giving Boom what he wants on this board. You're playing right into his trap if you have 4 page arguments with the dude in every thread on here.
I thought about that, but I figured I would make a thread that can easily be referenced next time he tries to throw stats about Howard out. He went on and on for months about the Dwight Effect and all it shows is that he's a mediocre rim protector.

Dwight is a great player.
Even though Boom trolls the shite outta this board, he'd take AD for Dwight straight up so F'ing fast it would make your head spin, so don't sweat the guy.

Hey as long as people don't bash Dwight / Harden / Rockets on here you'll be hard pressed to find me posting here.
This is adorable. You interject into countless threads that never once mentioned the Rockets prior to your arrival.

This is dejavu, we had this discussion yesterday with the numbers starting here.
Although it wasn't it's own thread nor was it all hashed out in a well written single post.
The Dwight Effect wasn't too prominent last night with the Rockets giving up 62 points in the paint. They did look good though regardless.

In Dwights case 3x defensive player of the year and 4x all nba first team defender
the calendar is about to hit 2015
you are still talking about 2011-2012 before dwight was even a rocket
dwight effect is cool but hasnt been relevant since dwight left Orlando. geaux lay down dude

Well when people overrate Davis they are indirectly underrating D12.....

nah
he was a 20/14/3 player in ORL
he's not even back LAL Dwight, much less ORL Dwight

Wait so D12 gets a pass for having a bad back, but you get to say that AD was non existent to the study without telling everyone that it was due to the fact that he wasn't even in the study? Don't forget the small fact that it was his rookie season as well.
Posted on 10/30/14 at 2:39 pm to Scrowe
This is how it goes:
PT: Lowe and a lot of people are saying AD is a top 3 player, top 3 PF as well. GMs said if they can take 1 player to start a franchise, they'd pick AD.
- not one mention of rockets/dwight
Boom: But AD isn't a top 3 player, yet. He hasn't even taken his team to the playoffs like Dwight. Dwight took his team to the finals! Dwight is better than AD, so they're wrong, he isn't a top 3 player.

My bad. Hadn't seen that Looks like we had the same idea. You did more players than me. I just did the first 15 and Ibaka.

He's got a true alpha in harden now so he doesn't need to score as much, "dwight effect" helps to explain the decrease in blocks, as for the rebounds, yes his athleticism hasn't been great since the back injury, but he looks great athletically this yar.

Davis is the third best player in the world. D12 is around 10-15

Jesus Christ. Somebody reading this thread would think that you were on the defense against some cherry picked data used against you. YOU are the one who referenced this article numerous times. Now all of a sudden, the study that you held as gospel isn't good because it used data when he had a bad back?

How big of a sample size did Rockets end up collecting?

If you want a stat boy, Davis is your guy. If you want a guy who can lead a team into the playoffs and further, Davis has shown no ability to lead a winning team at the NBA level. D12, on the other hand, has proven time and time again that he can lead a team deeeep into the NBA playoffs.

Well my posts were probably lost in the shuffle to most where as your thread based on the Dwight Effect brings more light to it

I just threw the numbers from the study in a spreadsheet really quick so I had all of them but just posted to Dwight's rank in the list except in 3p points per shot defended since he was 46th in that category and the list would have been huge
Posted on 10/30/14 at 2:57 pm to TheSexecutioner
who didnt know that D12 had a bad back in the years that the study was conducted? It shouldn't even need to have been posted anyone should know so I don't see how it's a big deal. It's not an excuse for anything the numbers show that even at his worse(physically) D12 is still among the very best.
