Old Timer Leaving Early Strategy

I had an interesting conversation yesterday with a long time Tiger fan that I buy tickets from. He is in his mid 60's and has acquired 2 sets of season tickets over the years. Yesterday we were talking and he proceeded to give me his strategy for leaving games early to beat the traffic (regardless of the outcome of the game). He said he has used this technique for years and it works every time.
This guy hardly knows what the internet is, much less look at this message board, so he has no idea that it has been a hot topic on here this season. However, I thought it was interesting that this "old school" guy had this mentality. I thought it was only the new generations that were ruining all of the traditions.
I have never joined in the "leaving early" discussion on here and hate to even bring it up again, but I thought it was funny. Now please proceed to rip me a new one because I'm sure everyone on here is so much smarter and cooler than I am.

Why don't you tell us the strategy, then we can bash you on principle as well as fact.

LOL. I would, but apparently it is a "secret of the pros."

does he leave his seat and catch the endings of a game somewhere from another view point in the stadium so he can rush out the gate? pretty gay

Warren St John's book Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer tells the story of a supposed multimillionaire whose personal goal is to be back in his house in Mobile within exactly one hour of the last play of every UA-T game. He watches the last play from a specific vantage point that's as close to the exits as he can get, then immediately rushes to his chauffered car, waiting with the engine running, which brings him to the airport so he can take his helicopter back to Mobile. Completely crazy if true.

With the new screen in the SW corner I can watch it from my car, but prefer to stay in the stadium. Don't mind traffic - I just listen to the post game show while waiting.

I took the wrong exit last week and ended up sitting on the OM bench.

I've never understood why you would go to an LSU game that mattered, and leave early.
If they are playing Akron or Sam Houston, by all means, leave when you feel like it (or don't even go at all).
But for games against Ole Miss, Bama, Florida, etc., why leave? Stay and savor the passion and awesomeness that is LSU Tiger football in Death Valley.

If you think an old timer is a man in his mid 60"s
How young of buckaroo are you?

Biggest game of the year to date last week. Stayed the whole game, and was at home in lafayette 2 hours after the game ended. If you go knowing you'll leave early, just stay home

I think the problem is worse at LSU basketball games, to be honest. It is more apparent because it is a smaller venue and you can watch people more easily.
I have been going to games for over 30 years and have seen similar situations to this dozens of times….
Let's say there are about 10 seconds left in the game. LSU is down 1 point and has just missed a shot that would have given them the lead. The opponent gets the rebound and is fouled and is about to shoot free throws. During the stop in play as the teams head to the free throw line there is a LOT of stirring by the fans…many people are up and headed to the concourse or the tunnel and some are actually leaving.
I don't get it. There are still about a dozen possible things that could happen in the last 10 seconds. The game could go to overtime. LSU could hit a buzzer-beater to win the game. I don't know what goes through people's minds. I will be damned if I am going to buy a ticket, park, and sit through 39:50 of the game without seeing the most exciting part, let alone miss overtime if it happens.
I had no idea that the race to see who can be first to the parking lot was such an important one.

Probably way older than you are.

I am not ready to trade our Old Timer (OT) CLS, Cam or Chief or the young buckaroo who is washing out at Florida

OK? Didn't mean to offend anyone's age sensitivity. The point was that the guy is an older gentlemen and still leaves early. Not sure what you are talking about.

To me this is part of the night. Stay to the end, then listen to the post game on the way out.
